rear defroster/defogger not working and tinted glass

I have a tinted rear hatch with defroster. (The sides were tinted until my third ticket)
My rear defroster works for about 45 seconds and then it shuts off. I have already replaced the switch once and it was a little better but winter is coming and this is my daily driver. Any thoughts about how to fix this.???

I assume that the rear defogger is just heating up too quickly since it is between the glass and the tint.

ANY THOUGHTS?? Or anybody else having this problem??

I don't know how they work, but it sounds like its just the grid, a timer, and a switch. Sounds like the timer is on its way out.

i have that same problem too!! I haven't tried replacing the switch tho...but it only stays on for 30 seconds or so then turns off. It gets really annoying in the winter.

I would think a tint shop may have a solution to this but I haven't found one. I thought about just wiring it to a direct switch but I figured I would forget to turn it off and start a fire

This isn't a tint issue, so why would a tint shop have the answer?

I used the search. I used the word defroster and searched for titles only. Out of the handful of threads that were returned, these 3 were most applicable.

My back window is tinted and I don't have any problems. I herd stories about about other people having problems after they tinted over the defroster. But I don't know how true they are.

Thanks for the links Lower, I'll try the fuse swap.
I did do several searches but they all had "tint" in them.
Silly me...
I'll give it a try and report back...
