I was wondering what's the biggest possible size of rear tire to throw on my two extra stock wheels that I have. The 17's on a 2000 SS. I want something for the track, so I get good bite. That's the only place they'll be run.

I would say 285/40R17 would be the largest I would go on the stock 9" rim. Of course you could always upgrade to a set of 2 17x11" wheels for the back and run 315/35R17 or 335/35R17 for the strip.

 

You can run nitto drag radials in 315 on a 9 inch rim

My buddy has em on his 03 cobra and they fit pefectly no big overlap or anything because nitto DR's 315 is really a 305

 

i dunno about 9 inch, but my friend has some 315's on a ZR1 9.5 inch

 

315's on a 9" rim look funny, and dont wear right. 335's on an 11" rim... thats how i ride... i was disappointed when i saw somebody had 345's on a 13" rim

 

you have pics, and more details on the 335? what did it take to do it?

 

I have a few pics as of right not but i can take a few more to show what i had to do. I dont know if i would do it again if i had the chance. i really sacrificed my ride comfort and height. i didnt want to rolll my fenders so i stiffened my suspension.
