LS1 guys with 373 gears, at 45 mph at WOT you still get that screaming performace?

iam trying to solve this downshift problem with my car, i have a 00 LS1 camaro with 373 gears and i got the ls1 edit and my car does downshift at 40mph for that screaming peformance but know if i go 45 mph it wont downshift at all for that screming performance, this is my first car Ls1 A4 with 373 gears, is it possible that this is normal for 373 gears not to downshift into second? i mean 45 isn;t that fast at all and i imagine that it should downshift into 2 gear when i floor it, it does when iam at 40 mph or under but if iam at 45 mph nothing it wont downshift, just wondering you guys with 373 gears with an A4 trans does your car downshift to second gear for that screaming performace when you are crusing at 45 mph or faster?

I don't have 3.73 gears but it sounds to me like your describing a dead spot. My car from a 25-30 mph roll will scream if I gun it because it downshifts to first gear and puts me in my powerband. However if I punch it from 31-40 it will stay in the bottom of second gear (far below my peak powerband) and I feel sluggish until the rpm's build to 3000 or so. I'm thinking a good 3500 stall torque converter will fix that problem for both of us.

No way, you HAVE to be speaking of 1st gear... I hope like hell you are anyways, because if you were to mash it at 45mph, and it stayed in 3rd gear... that would be equivalent to you just accelerating by feathering (and I MEAN feathering!) the throttle to over 100mph. At 45mph, my LT1 is reading right around 3k RPMs w/ 2.73s in 2nd gear. I know if I'm doing this speed and just go to very lightly accelerate, the car will un-noticeably shift into 3rd and pick up speed. If this is your case when you mash it... soak a rag in gasoline, chuck it on the car, and light up that zippo :D

I have a '99 WS6 and mine will downshift into second even around 60-65 mph most of the time when I punch it. Something has got to be wrong, make sure your pedal is going all the way to the floor and nothing is blocking it.

I swapped 3.73's into my LT1 and it will downshift to 2nd from 55mph and under. I had my PCM tuned by Madwolf, something has to be wrong for it not to downshift.

at 45 its too fast (mphwise) to downshift into 1st, so it downshifts into second, and it falls out of the powerband, especially ls1s, they like to be wound up.
