I doubt it's a "paint job." ;)
Check out this price list: http://www.santaanaplating.com/site/price_list.htm
My guess is something like this would cost everybit of $15,000+, and I think that is pretty conservative.
You have to consider something - this is for a lot of very big parts. That means a lot more prep work, etc.
I tried talking my dad into doing one of our project trucks in chrome...but he said it wouldn't look right. I got to show him these pictures now.

There - try that. Every picture in the entire calendar features a chrome Mercedes.
firebirdjosh 10-07-2004, 09:49 AM I'd think the chrome might flake once there is a chip and sort of spread. Not to mention the glare from the sun (on you and other drivers) seems dangerous. Then there is always the concern of getting dinged and redoing a whole part of the car. Definately looks amazing though.
BIGKerneL44 10-07-2004, 11:08 AM lol this is not the chrome paint they sell on ebay, i painted my racing helmet "altmost chrome" from valspar an it cost me altmost $250....for my helmet which i did....myself
ibanez6rg 10-07-2004, 02:04 PM That station wagon is such a gay car to do it to! I like it, thought!
94BlackBowtie 10-07-2004, 02:31 PM You know - my guess is - that *could* just be a bunch of really slick black paint jobs that they have digitally touched up to look chrome. Can't say that's impossible...there are some really amazing digital imaging programs out there that would allow that.

Anything is possible these days with photoshopping!
tavella 10-07-2004, 06:12 PM The car looks great but I'd hate to be the SOB thats near the vehicle while the sun is out. Go from loving it to blind in a second... :)
def. has been touched up, as u cant even see the camera man.

Look between the grille and the driver side headlight on photo number 9.
It is isn't the camera man - but it is a person.
Plus the "Art In Progess" banner shows that they have tinkered as well - seeing as how it blends in with all the same colors, its just light.

It works if you drag and drop ;)
Click on the link and hold down the mouse button then "drag" it up into the address bar (or the very top of the window). Try it out.
It does look awesome but wouldnt be very practical for the reasons that firebirdjosh allready said. :(

jpaul2001 02-24-2005, 12:13 PM Actually I've seen a paint job like that on a civic in Texas. It shines just like that, and it's expensive as hell. It was featured in an import car magazine I read ( yes I read them. they have good tech articles, and good interior pics.) The guy said that it was a ton of high gloss black coats that were wet sanded on every coat, then covered with a candy color (forgot exactly what color it was), but it allowed the black to show through, and that's what gave it the chrome look. I think it would look incredible on any f-body. If it looks as good as it does on that rice, it should look stellar on a Camaro or a Firebird IMO.
SUPERSPORTBOY2 02-24-2005, 04:51 PM www.alsacorp.com lots of $$$$$ :)
Blue_SS 02-25-2005, 03:53 AM Thanks for that link
SUPERSPORTBOY2 02-25-2005, 05:50 AM no prob. go to paints and additives and look under the examples at the bottom. they got a older mustang done in the paint. looks good but terrible wheels.
BirchMan98z 03-02-2005, 12:36 PM am I the only one that thinks chrome is best in small doses???
Too much chrome can be just as bad as fake scoops, ugly wings, and horrifying ricer body panels + lime green paint.
Now... a chrome/metallic red or black can be nice. I'm particular to black myself, that might be something to look into.
