Darth Xed 10-06-2004, 04:36 PM The last Cavalier rolled off the J-Car line in Lordstown today...
Start of saleable Cobalt production is scheduled for Oct. 17th according to local news.
dream '94 Z28 10-06-2004, 05:05 PM That's a mighty long run for a car, launched in '82 and thus designed in the late '70's
Too bad it took GM that long to get really serious about small cars....
Brangeta 10-06-2004, 06:11 PM Why is the Cavalier listed as a 2005 model on chevy.com if this is the end of the run? The Camaro wasn't discontinued until late in 2002 and the 2002 model was the discontinued one. If the Cavalier is discontinued, shouldn't they wait until 2005 at least starts?

'05 Cavaliers are intended primarily for fleet sales if I'm not mistaken.

don't they have some kind of "farewell" package if you will too?
some type of anniversary edition?

They already did that this year it was a decal package on the LS sport models either black with silver rally stripes or silver with black stripes.
viper03af 10-07-2004, 04:17 PM yep my cuz works in GM the coblat is ripping out today, i seen a trurk full of them when i was home on leave in july, they looked good, i still need to see one up close though
MunchE 10-07-2004, 07:28 PM Good riddance. Now on to replacing the rest of the Chevy car line. :)
guionM 10-07-2004, 07:50 PM Though the Cobalt looks alot like the Cavalier in passing, I really like what GM has done to the car. Supercharging, 18" factory wheels, a top drawer interior in a car running $20K or less.
The only thing I don't like about the Cobalt is the exterior of the sedan.
Then again, I'm probally nowhere near the target market for that version either. :)

this couldn't be had on a z24?
or did they discontinue that model (never can keep up on the cavy line)
Big Als Z 10-08-2004, 12:07 AM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD BYE!

Far as I know the z24 model with the 2.4 4 banger went out with the 2002 Cavalier before the restyle for 03. I wish they would have kept the engine and package together for the newer body style.
Also I know there is alot of people bashing the Cavalier yea it deserves it now but the car was a decent car and did provide alot of people with transportation. I always thought it was a decent car and I am willing to say that about every family in america someone from that family has either rode in a J body car or own and driven one.
Need4Camaro 10-08-2004, 05:41 PM Wow how time fly's!
Hey what about the Sunfire's? Are they going to bite the dust aswell? What will replace them?
FiefSS 10-08-2004, 10:11 PM camaro dies, firebird dies and doesnt come back
cavalier dies, sunfire dies and doesnt come back :)

i actually sorta liked the cavy
wouldnt mind one for a daily driver
my sister has a 95 and even tho the thing is in terrible shape (lookswise) i still think they make nice little cars and get you from point a to point b
i'd have to say, if i ever ventured into modding a 4banger, it'd be either a z24 or a 88-89 conquest tsi:)

Cavalier wise I've wanted to get either a 3.1 z24 with a 5 speed (I love my 3.1 transplant in my ol 89 corsica It needs a tiny bit of body work and striped down repaint and wear and tear a little bit inside but overal a decent car to get u where u want to go) a 2.4 z24 from the late 90s or a new 2.2 ecotec. Preferably from the 03-05 life cycle but a 98 on would be good as well
I am needing a car to replace the Corsica and I want to stay in the Chevy family and only decent and sporty looking cars that are budget wise and practical that I'm interested in is a Cavalier or a decent used Camaro. I'd like to have a camaro but this car I get will be hauling 4 people most of the time around so I guess a cavalier would be the easy choice but the love for the Camaro is really driving me crazy.

i see your dilemma man
the only good thing to haul 4 people around in all the time would be a 4 door though :yuk:
yea, i'd go with a z24 or a nice 3rd gen:)
Brangeta 10-09-2004, 01:14 PM I actually kind of like the rear end of the new Cavaliers, they remind me of Camaros. Perhaps they redesigned the Cavalier in 2003 or 2004 because of the death of Camaro. The front end though... it is just atrocious, it reminds me of what a 4th gen would look like if it didn't have the blessed overhang.
EDIT: Has anyone seen the 2005 Cavalier Xtreme yet?? It is pretty cool!
