Z284ever 10-05-2004, 02:28 PM At SEMA, it is rumored that the Dodge 'performance coupe' (Challenger? Super Bee? 'Cuda?), will have a "Six Pack" under the hood.
Is this what they mean?

I'd doubt it......but thought this was interesting.
SRT-6 V6 maybe?
or this maybe (http://rreu.11net.com/yuengling/premium/prem_beer6pack.jpg)
number77 10-05-2004, 03:24 PM designating the "six-pack" on anything besides a v-8 is unexeptable. but then again, it worked for the hemi, so why not this?
formula79 10-05-2004, 05:22 PM I get this feeling that if DCX could, they would magically put the whole world in a time warp back to 1966...

Whats wrong with that?
I always say that I was born 20 yrs too late. :(
guionM 10-05-2004, 10:53 PM Actually, I think you mean 1969.
That's when the Roadrunner & much of Chrysler's visually legendary performance cars started coming out. :)

Gas Mileage, that's what's wrong with it.

DoD ;)
Z284ever 10-06-2004, 12:26 AM I think that this new "Six Pack" might be a new high output 3.5 V6 with over 280 hp.....normally aspirated, or a new for '06, RWD, 4.0L V6 with around 300hp..

But they'd hope we were blind, deaf and dumb....because they put legendary musclecar names on 4 door sedans and 'Bumble Bee' stripes on pickup trucks  :irk:

and this is exceptional how? there are mass produced regular production engines making that power/displacement... besides, aren't "we" always telling the ricers it's not about displacement?

I can see some of your points Doug....especially as I interpret some of your comments as a 'forward defence' to what some numbskull might want to do with our Camaro.
But putting Camaro aside for now....I kind of like what Mopar is doing in the form of Scat-Pack-esque packages and graphics. For me, it helps to break some of the monotony that alot of new vehicles have. I'd rather have them, than not have them.
Look it.....we've got muscle trucks today. They are fully accepted into the street and race scene. We have muscle sedans today. It's not just your aunt Jane driving 4 doors anymore, they're bought, modified and worshipped by many, many enthusiasts. We have FWD/AWD performance today as well. All this...I think...balances the automotive landscape, and makes things interesting. I think it's unreasonable to expect ALL cars of interest to only be RWD, V8 coupes today. Just ain't gonna happen.
With that said...if Camaro ever deviates from the formula in my minds' eye...I will eviscerate all those responsible. I'm not kidding. :death:
Big Als Z 10-06-2004, 01:44 AM A 3.5 with high compression making over 280hp would be nice. It would be better if this coupe is RWD and not FWD.

I didn't say it was exceptional or not exceptional. Just guessing as to what it might be.

I'm thinking the performance version may be AWD.

That's not far from where Ford would like to put us as well.
JoeliusZ28 10-06-2004, 10:15 AM six pack 3.5 :yuck:
first it lacks two cylinders, second (i realize 280hp is 280hp) but i rode in [and drove] a pacifica with the 'standard' output and that thing was a dog. I think my 185hp 92 full size truck, complete with ext cab and 186k miles, would give it a run for its money. edit: the pacifica had awd, so maybe i was unfairly not factoring in drivetrain loss.

That sounds good, I expect the six-pack to be a V6. I'd like to see GM do some high 200 HP range V6s. 300HP DOHC 3.8L HF V6 would be nice for the CTS and Buicks.
JoeliusZ28 10-06-2004, 12:04 PM another bad thing about using on a v6... 'ricers' and/or people who dont know any better are going to think 'six pack' is a new term for v6, and before you know it there will be six pack emblems on civics.
edit: essentially, i dont mind six pack v6... but on the other hand, i think the first six pack engine needs to be a v8 to keep enthusiasts happy, and so people dont get the wrong idea of what a six pack is. That one looks like its desdigned for v6, because wouldnt the center two have to be bigger for a v8 setup?
