This mystery vehicle doesnt sound like the upcoming Torrent. Nice suprise to see the other great models mentioned. Sounds like Pontiac is indeed moving in the right direction.

Nah, the solstice is pretty big and they show it on there site. This car could be the upcoming "G8" or whatever. They havent said anything about that yet.

Hmmm , I guessing its a Bimmer 1 series type car of Kappa . There not getting a small car off the cobalt chassis and there hasnt been a wimper from Pontiac about a new small car , especially a RWD small sedan that actually might be pretty damn cool .

Doesn't sound like the Firebird considering they say the GTO and Solstice will be the Pontiac image leaders. I bet they are referring to something simple and sporty like the Pontiac G4 (the pursuit vehicle thing in Canada/Mexico).

Too bad really... I was hoping for a new Firebird/Trans Am...

Well it has to be something that pops and gets attention if that’s their plan right? Maybe a sports car based off the c6 under pinning? XLR, Corvette, ??????. I know pontiac in the 60s made a fiberglass concept car that looked just as good if not better than the corvette and GM pulled it because chevrolet was there pride and joy and no one was going to mess with the 'vette. I don't think that really applies anymore so anything is possible I guess. I'm probably completely wrong though of course... or maybe its just a GTO Judge or a G6+ (think ctsv.)

I say its the RWD/AWD G8 with the LS2.

I really do want to see the Firebird come back. It would be hard to top the late 4th gens, but if it looks anything like the Camaro concepts we've been seeing, but with more Firebird styling hues, I think it could be a freak'n awesome mean looking vehicle.

Anybody think it could be a limited production y-body?? (Before somebody goes ape sh.. on me, I highlighted "LIMITED" for you so you know I'm not talking about some huge mass production being added to the plant) Remember GM has been touting about how their going to do this "rapid-fire" new product thing...imagine a Pontiac styled 'Vette type thing :eek:

I wouldn't dream they would bring back the Bird before the Camaro, but i'm new to this sort of thing so i dont know. As long as it doesen't suck. I'm trying to be a GM guy... I really am. :(

Ya... Im thinking a RWD Bonneville replacement, with optional AWD and Gen IV V8s... Of course, this IS GM, so expect a torque-managed 4 speed slushbox, even though by the time it debuts, there'll be a wonderful 5 or 6 speed auto sitting in the parts bin, right next to the abandoned manuals... :mad: :mad: :mad:

Ah...please remember to try and devide old GM from new GM.
Zeta would be new GM, and is designed to use the new 6spd auto trans, because Holden doesnt wait for GM to move along with technology, they do it themselves.

Since we are on the subject of Pontiac, did anyone notice the full page ad in USA Today on Thursday 9/30 highlighting the fact that they have won 5 of 9 races in the mid-engine rolex series (their 1st year of competition in this new series). Interesting they chose to re-enter mid-engine racing now?

I'd wait for the Camaro, the Firebird has always been too aggressive for me. Oh, plus they usually cost more and cost more to insure. But... I'd still crap my pants either way.

considering the cheetah was a styling inspiration for the solstice, i wouldnt doubt some similairities(sp)

It's not necessarily that I liked the hard tops design better, but I do think it looks good from the front. I more or less just prefer the higher rigidity/less weight that a hard top usually provides.
