How to launch to a 6spd

This thread is about how to launch a 6spd 'real-good.'

I've got about a year of stick-driving under my belt now, and I found that hitting the gas gradually but quickly from ~1200 rpm w/ a medium-quick clutch release works best. Since I bought her, the clutch has never held a dump from more than say 1500rpm, and slips on my 1-2 shifts when hot, enough to quit the run. Doesn't slip on WOT when already in a gear though.

SO - how about a thread of tip and pointers on how to launch a 6spd!? please contribute...

ps: the reason I bring this up is b/c I only held my own against a 350z from a dig when I thought I'd cream him. We only got up to ~50mph. Did some research now, they have 5.7sec 0-60 (similar to an lt1, no?) but are just a hair slower in the quarter running high 13's. Damn the new technology! haha

a 350z WILL be a drivers race with a car that only has a catback. thats really your only power adding mod. as far as launching goes, i was once told a very good way...

"Rev it till the valves float or your limiter says no more and drop the clutch".

of course that only works on sticky tires with a good track prep. if you cant launch over 1500 i would replace the clutch. sounds like its gone.

Definitely sounds like it's past due for a clutch replacement. Slipping at WOT at 1500 RPM is not normal.

Any 2 RWD stickshift cars will be a drivers race up to 50mph. From a roll my money is on the LT1 by a wee margin.
