kingman109 10-02-2004, 10:58 AM well 2nd time to the track and car is running better but im still nowhere near the times i think i should be able to run -
all night was running consistantly around this slip :
R/T ----------- .700
60' ----------- 2.450
330 ----------- 6.329
1/8 ----------- 9.463
MPH ---------- 78.60
1000 ---------- 12.132
1/4 ----------- 14.388
MPH ----------- 100.25
i had a little bog off the line but it wasnt too bad- my 60' is killing me but how am i trapping that high and still running a 14.3 ? consistantly i was trapping 100,101 and a few 99.95's but my 1/4 was hovering around 14.3 -14.5.
what do u think is going on? and besides drag radials think anything could help ? im going back this week again to try once again and bring down my 60'
david97gsxr 10-02-2004, 11:19 AM it's all in your 60 foot.
you should be able to pull a 2.1 60 ft with street tires. you just need more practice with that 6 speed. your 18 inch wheels don't help you.
if you pulled a 2.0 60 ft, you'd run around 13.8-13.9, @ 99 or 100. weather pending
your car has basicly the same mods as mine, and i ran 13.70 @ 100.5 with a 2.06 60ft. in not so perfect conditions.
kingman109 10-02-2004, 11:23 AM ya thats what im figuring - sad part is im running Nitto 555 and am having a hard time at the track hooking up- either boging or spinning-
soooo frustrating not being able to break 14's and knowing the car can -
well practice makes perfect i guess
95Z-Cross-Eyed 10-02-2004, 03:43 PM What is the tire pressure in those nitto's? I was launching on nitto's when my motor was stock and had shorties, cai. and I could launch at 4500 with no spin. This car ran well went 13.00 @ 105. I broke the rear end on a set of them. Gotta drop the pressure in them and heat them up nicely.
Mike
kingman109 10-02-2004, 04:39 PM i dropped them to 25 PSI - being 18's i didnt want to push it too much-
and they arent drag radials - they're 555's
BiGGinZ 10-02-2004, 10:06 PM Like everyone said it is your 60 foot. Just get those dr's and any mods you do wont hurt, good luck getting into the 13's.
MustangEater82 10-03-2004, 07:05 PM TO sound like a broken record, you gotta, get the 60' down, on average .1 in the 60' = .2 in the 1/4. shave .3 and get a 2.1 60' a high 13 is possible.
But you are right, I am only 1/10 slower then you and you trap, 5-6 mph faster, just need to work the launch right, I cut a 2.1, on balding Eagle GAs, and an open diff.
Just to throw something in here I just ran a 14.35 at 95mph with a 2.18 60ft as my best time last trip to track on nitto drag radials but i didn't heat them up right just aired them down a bit and that didn't do much on our crappy track although they dead hook on the street. My worst 60ft that day was 2.34 with spin on the nittos on the track.Best time before was 2.38 on street tires.
My mods were :gms maf,1le bellows,cold air,holley filter,maganaflow,3.42 in my A4,hpp tuning out,maft translator,tb bypass,airfoil.Car raceweight was 3775 pounds.1/2 tank.No spare tire or jack.
DarkHorse 10-04-2004, 09:49 PM That 60' is horrible. You should be able to hit mid 13's with that mph and about a 1.8 60' - least I was hitting about that.
00Z28SS 10-05-2004, 03:45 PM Not to mention it's only your 2nd time to the track. It took me 4 times to go to the track before I pulled my 13.05 and I know I can drop it down below 13. My first time at the track I couldn't run below a 13.57 and my worst run was a 13.89 @ 106mph. It just takes a little practice. I don't know about everyone else, but launching at the track for me seems alot harder than launching on the street. Let us know what happens wednesday.
WS Sick 10-05-2004, 03:48 PM 60 foot all your problem.
amean94ta 10-13-2004, 01:11 AM when i was stock(motor) i did a 1.7 60ft 13.86 @ 96 mph figure that one out lol
Z-RATED94 10-13-2004, 01:32 AM when i was stock(motor) i did a 1.7 60ft 13.86 @ 96 mph figure that one out lol
A very good 60 ft. time, as you have, would equate to the ET and low MPH that you stated.
Is there a prize? :D
amean94ta 10-13-2004, 02:14 AM no just for the longest time people would look at my time slip and say something was messed up. but that was 3 years ago so oh well
LT1 Bunny 10-13-2004, 08:30 PM Yeah 60s are killing me too. Best run so far with street tires dropped to 20#s was 14.08 @ 101.70 . The fastest I've ran so far has been 104.xx . I seriously need some slicks.
kingman109 10-13-2004, 09:20 PM i didnt have a prob launching with old rims and tires- i think the 18's are just getting to me - next time i go im taking the front swaybar off cause apparently it worked miracles for a friend with 18's
not willing to go to slicks just yet-
bpipe95 10-14-2004, 01:31 AM I am in the same boat!!!!! same trap speeds same 60' same ET i am sooo pissed with my self esp after last week i had a miss shift and went in to first from 2nd i did not hurt anthing but i am done with the car this year....
PS i only have 16" wheels on right now
97BBlackZ 10-14-2004, 01:43 AM Yea man its all in your 60 ft times.
I ran the times in my sig with the mods in the sig right now. Granted its only 1/8 times though since thats all we have around here. :(
I never do a big burn out just enough to clean of anything off the tires because theres no point in trying to heat them up when that were designed not to and keep them at normal psi (around 32) and when i let of the break after the burn out is you don't feels the tires gripping you might want to back up and do it again till you feel them bite.
I don't know much about the nitto's 555's but if there street tires normally they run best around 32~ psi since on street tires the side walls act different then if it was a drag tire.
