toneloc12345 10-02-2004, 11:58 AM Went to the track again last night. My best for last night was a 13.806 @99.74mph still got a crappy 2.19 60' though. Anyway I didn't get to actually race the mach 1 but i talked to him and saw him run a few times. He ran a couple of 13.9's and a 14.4. His car was completely stock and a M5. I didn't want to tell him he should be running low 13's. I beat a Grand National that ran a 14.1. I got beat by a 2001 Cobra that ran a 13.4. I can't remember the numbers exaclty because i'm at work. I also saw a new M6 GTO run a 13.9 and a 14.2. My friend in his WRX ran a 13.49. Saw a SRT4 run a 12.4.
Most of the times at this track are a little bit below average. Seeing how it's only $10 to run.
TONY
Garbage 10-02-2004, 06:25 PM Meh dont bother telling him he should be running low 13s. Most people cant take a stock mach1 and run even a mid 13. Theyre always talking about 1/4 mile times (ricers especially) and they've NEVER been to the track. Although id be happy with your times in that car, good job man!
Antz97ZNJ 10-02-2004, 07:20 PM Sounded like fun...good runs
BiGGinZ 10-02-2004, 11:00 PM Nice runs :D , I imagine it is hard to get traction with the 3.73's so get some dr's and a nice stall and watch those times drop.
toneloc12345 10-03-2004, 09:46 AM Yeah traction is a little tricky. A few days before I went to the track i was going to buy some cheap wheels and put ET streets on them for track night....until the total reached $480 for crappy black wheels and tires. I decided i could almost get Mac Mids for that much. And i can't really put drag radials on my regular wheels since i have to drive this car regularly.
I was very happy with my times, almost a 13.7. I would just like to see what she would run with a 2.0 60'. A funny thing was that i was beating my friend that just installed pacesetter LT's on his 95 M6.

CANTONRACER 10-03-2004, 06:08 PM What track did you go to?
toneloc12345 10-03-2004, 08:13 PM LaRue by Marion, One correction on the original. We watched the video tape and the Cobra i raced was a '03+ that makes me feel a lot better about him running away from me. his time was 13.492 at 106.18mph

Haskin Z28 10-06-2004, 12:53 PM i have nothing against Mach 1s, i actually think they look pretty nifty and i would probably pick one up if i had the money..but garage perfectly described a friend of mine who just purchased a mach 1..he told me it will be running 12s all day long (it is stock by the way)..but then again this is coming from someone who has driven a bone stock 89 5.0 all his life..he also told me he smokes C5s
stereomandan 10-06-2004, 12:58 PM Good runs.
What did the WRX have done to it to run 13.49? Do you remember his trap speed and 60'?
Dan
toneloc12345 10-06-2004, 07:51 PM his trap was 98.26 and 60' was 1.82
up-pipe and 3" turbo back exhaust and manual boost controller set to 15psi and water intercooler sprayer.

What have you ran at the track, see you have Evan Smiths time below..thats like ever LS1 guy here posting a sig of a 12.8 stock
Kris93/95Z28 10-06-2004, 11:53 PM but then again this is coming from someone who has driven a bone stock 89 5.0 all his life..he also told me he smokes C5s
C5s aren't the only thing he is smoking....
Now way in Hades a Stock 89 5.0 is beating up on the C5 Vettes.
Steve Y 10-07-2004, 12:44 AM Yeah traction is a little tricky. Yeah, but tires will help the e.t. a lot more on average than headers. :) Tires also give the driver a lot of confidence and consistency on the launch instead of worrying about blowing the launch all the time.
goaliedave40 10-07-2004, 05:51 AM True that about the tires. My best time this weekend was a 13.8 @104.2, best trap was 106.9 (at 14.1 :( ). Drag radials of e/t's would have helped a bunch on the track we ran on. I did beat on 04 Mach 1 auto, he ran a 14.0 on my run that I got the 106.9. 60 foot times were horrible; 2.4,2.3, you get the idea about sticky tires.
toneloc12345 10-07-2004, 10:15 AM 2.4 60's won't help your times, that's for sure. Does your track have really bad prep or what?
TONY
goaliedave40 10-09-2004, 03:22 PM What is this "prep" of which you speak? ;) Its an old airfield and there is no VHT or anything like that. Just a water bucket for the guys with drag radials/slicks. (not me! ). I have 18" 245/45 Eagle F1's. Great for the twisty stuff, but not drag racing. Oh, yeah, I can't drive well either.
toneloc12345 10-12-2004, 07:36 AM Yeah, that kinda sucks for times....
TONY
Mikie 10-12-2004, 09:06 PM Nice times Tony.
I agree with the other Mach Owner above, Only a select few can drive these things to low 13s.
I gotta date with an 03 Cobra in two weeks and know for a fact he cant drive at all. He went to the track for his first time last Thursday and run an incredible 15.23 @ 105 . This is at sea level where the other Cobras are trapping high-mid 12s all day long. The guy cant figure out that you cant launch a 390 hp car on street tires at 4,000 rpm...lol
For anyone that cares I got my Mach picture loaded on the website.
www.ultimatestreetmachines.cz28.com
I miss my LS1 , but love the Herritage of the Mach.
Later guys
Mike
toneloc12345 10-12-2004, 09:19 PM That'a a nice looking Mach 1, any mods yet???
TONY
Mikie 10-13-2004, 06:14 AM Thanks Tony,
I threw in a Pro 5.0 short shifter and Flows to give it a slight rumble. Other than that nothing really to mention that makes power.
With those two mods I ran 13.15 @ 107 with a 1.913 short time on factory tires.
I have run a best 1/8th mile of 8.47 @ 83 mph.
Now keep in mind I was powershifting the piss outta her too.
I still could not believe the low 60' on street tires...jeeez

toneloc12345 10-13-2004, 08:05 AM yeah that 60' time is awesome. I could see a low 13 with a 60' time like that

Mikeyea those machs are no cobra but still no joke
Mikie 10-13-2004, 11:43 AM Yeah,
It cant handle the Cobra or the C5 Vette. A Stock LS1 Z or Bolt on LT1 will be a good run. Not saying I would win , but definitely closer than the Cobra or Vette.
1/8th mile I think Ive got a good contender , but the further you race my odds go down quickly.
Garbage 10-13-2004, 01:21 PM Uhhh the c5 vette is stil an ls1, a mach1 is VERY capable of taking a c5.
Haskin Z28 10-13-2004, 01:26 PM very capable(i guess)...also very unlikely, about as capable as a stock lt1 beating an ls1
Bob Cosby 10-13-2004, 02:07 PM I'd say a stock Mach 1 is a faster than a stock LT1. Measurably and consistently so. How much is debatable I suppose.
Mikie 10-13-2004, 02:32 PM G man Im gonna have to respectively disagree with ya on this one.
I know very well that the C5 is an LS1 , but also slightly faster than an LS1 Z or TA. When my TA was fairly stock (few bolt ons) I ran a C5 on the highway and he was stock as could be. Antz can probably recall my post about getting killed as I remember him replying to it. He pulled me consistantly every time from a roll and we both had M6s. I have a friend that purchased a 01 C5 and the same day we were at the track beating the piss out of it and he managed a 12.94 @ 108 on his first pass! My LS1 would only run low 13s.
Ive owned the following in the last 6 years...
95 GT slightly modded 14.90s 1/4 avg
96 LT1 TA slightly modded 13.80s 1/4 avg
97 LT1 TA same as above
99 LS1 NBM Z28 A4 13.60s stock
01 GT 13.96 stock
01 TA 13.40s stock M6 ,but then after serious mods 10.60s
Now onto the Mach1
The C5 is shaped like an arrow compared to our cars, lighter weight, better weight transfer dist and more horse power. 1/8th mile we stand a chance depending on the variables, but the further you stretch it out the more likely he is gonna pull on us hard.
Just my opinion and it may be wrong...but its mine...lol :D
toneloc12345 10-13-2004, 04:31 PM I agree about the Mach 1 being consitently faster than LT1, and a drivers race with LS1 f-body but not C5.
TONY
Mikie.... Nice list of cars
stereomandan 10-13-2004, 10:19 PM Mikie,
Nice looking MACH1. Looks better than the Cobra's in my opinion.
Nice to hear someone giving fair comparisons of the Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes.
So what are the things that you like and don't like about the MACH1?
Dan
Mikie 10-14-2004, 06:33 AM Thanks a bunch Dan.
The things I dont care for are...
The metal shifter ball ( burns the 1-5&R into the palm of your hand in the summer) I chunked it for a factory leather knob.
The skinny ass 17X8 wheels. The retro design was great , but from the rear it still looks like its riding on 10 speed bicycle tires.
Thats why I ditched those for the Black Bullitts 17X9 and 275 45 17 tires.
All in all that about covers the dislikes.
I am one individual on this board that keeps an open mind about all performance cars and will tell the truth no matter what brand I drive.
Mike
Garbage 10-14-2004, 03:16 PM I cant stand the paint, the clutch is also sub par for this cars power.
toneloc12345 10-14-2004, 08:48 PM Garbage.... Got any times for your car? Haha i like how you have some magazines time for your car. I wonder what the fastest stock LT1 time was? Probably faster than my times
