Z284ever 10-01-2004, 04:21 PM Drove about a gazzillion cars and trucks! What a fantastic program.
You walk away with the impression that GM's got some really good product....and some that needs some work.
These are some of my favorites:
C6: What a seductress! I drove a six speed today which was much more fun than the auto I drove at BG. I.........must..........suppress......my..... desires. I am a Camaro guy, not a Corvette guy.
CTS: What a fantastic car. Everytime I drive one...I think, "What a marvelous chassis". The only thing that lets it down, is it's cheesy dashboard and homely wheels. Otherwise, I'd have a 3.6, six speed with a sport package....right now.
STS: Very nice. Think bigger CTS with better interior.
Ion Redline: Lots of fun. Handles great!
GTO: Like the the C6...this one was a six speed, compared to the auto I drove in BG. The stick makes all the difference. MUCH more fun than the A4. As we know...nice interior and all that.
SSR: Someone please get me some help!....I'm liking it more and more.
Darth Xed 10-01-2004, 04:31 PM How do you get invited to one of these things? Or is it open to all?
I've never heard or noticed one in my area... of course, being the "Armpit of Ohio"... I'm not surprised... :shame:
Z284ever 10-01-2004, 04:34 PM They send you an invitation. But I believe you can register yourself....either online...or just show up and register.

Do you have a link to a site that lists the events time and place?
Feel free to PM if you don't want to post for any reason...
Gosh I can't wait.. I got the "KEYS" for the event here in Houston in October.
I believe you can logon to their site www.autoshowinmotion.com and register yourself there and if there is an event in your area they will send you information. I also got invited to the BMW event.. (NO M models however) but I want to see how the new 5 series shapes up.
PS. I am especially waiting for the C6, GTO and SSR although I want to also try out the newest additions from GM -> G6, Caobalt, Nox, malibu etc.

BTW Darth, the GTO I drove today was a twin of yours.

IBM with Blue interior, eh?! What did you think of the Blue leather? I love it! Finally something different from Black Grey and Beige!!
I can see it being a love it or hate it thing though...
I love the fact that is is not ALL BLue though... Blue with Black mixed in all in the right places, and trimmed out with the satin silver.
Details like the way the blue blends in the back area of the door panels, with black flowing over it... the black leather between the rear buckets to seperate the blue... very cool.
Then, the little touches... the blue stiching on the shifter boot and steering wheel... and the black floor mats with the blue piping around the edges!! Just awesome!
The Red looks fantastic too...
Z284ever 10-01-2004, 04:53 PM I think the interior is very cool. And you're right, the way the black offsets the blue is very nice.
It's pretty ironic that the CTS has nowhere near as nice of an interior as the GTO.
Z284ever 10-01-2004, 05:06 PM Just wanted to make some comments on the Aveo. Ok, it's a cheap little car that feels like a cheap little car, but....
If this thing had any sort of suspension tuning whatsoever and tires beyond the cheapest ones available.....it would be an absolute blast to autocross.
Dante93GTZ 10-01-2004, 05:19 PM The original post is proof that GM really has no market for affordable cars.
With the possible exceptions of the Cobalt and Ion, GM has nothing to offer anyone that actually likes cars.... unless of course, you have deep pockets.
I think we can all agree that the CTS (and most of Cadillac anymore for that matter), the C6, GTO, and the high end cars are the GM cars we'd really want... of course many may want add'l options, but the point is, do you see any of those cars as "affordable"? Sure, we'd all like a Dodge Viper (don't need to hear if you don't) but can we actually buy what we want? For most of us, no. Therefore, we are forced to settle anymore when it comes to GM products. ARGH.
number77 10-01-2004, 06:37 PM too bad i'll be only 19 when they come to Houston :(
FiefSS 10-01-2004, 07:35 PM i got an invite but am also 19, so i didnt bother goin... doesnt really matter to me as the only gm product i will buy wont be for a few years and have a name like Camaro. I was gonna take my dad, but oh well.
Big Als Z 10-01-2004, 11:01 PM I got invited to the Forbes Mansion to drive the 05 XLR and STS, as well as take a tour of his estate, look at his vast bike collection, and take a ride in a hot air ballon...
I cant wait to go!
ProjectRS 10-02-2004, 12:58 AM They didnt have a Cobalt :(

If you're talking about mid-sized sedans and such, go drive a V-6 Malibu, and then look at the window sticker. You will be impressed.
95GRNZ 10-03-2004, 09:58 AM Houston? San Antonio? Where the hell is Dallas???
There was a billion people ther last year, so why aren't they coming here...? :(
I was there last year and it was a great happening, so if you have a chance to attend, please do. :thumb:

Z284ever 10-04-2004, 12:47 AM Also drove the Silverado SS.......you didn't think that I would only have good things to report....did you?
What a let down. It's a slug. I don't know how some of the mags got high 14's out of it. It didn't feel anywhere near as fast to me.
I know it's a truck and all...but man did that thing handle like a brick. My wife's Hemi Durango feels like an S2000, compared to it.
Furthermore, the interior looks and feels like it was lifted out of 1983. And of course, they're not cheap. No wonder these Silvy SS's aren't selling. I wouldn't buy it, even if it's MSRP was 25 grand.
I didn't like one thing about it. Well no....I liked it's exhaust note.
Big Als Z 10-04-2004, 02:24 AM I liked the Silvy SS's seats, but the interior on all levels of Silvy are well below sub-par.
I didnt think it was THAT slow! Id buy one just to have as a daily cruser, but its a big truck, and Im deffinaly not into big trucks. Id rather take a SWB Silvy 1500 with teh 5.3 over that big boat. I see where GM was going with it, and I think too many people equate SS to L or SRT10.
Ive never done comparisons between the SS and a Durango, so ill take your word on it. I thought the SS handled better then your standard Silvy...but its very tall ride hight is horrible. It needs to be lower, as does the SSR. I still cant get over how high that thing sits.
