Might be one of those 12.x Fbody times, but still nice to see for a 25K-30K sedan or wagon with AWD put down so much power. Bring on the sub 2.0 60 foot times next!

Gold_Rush 10-01-2004, 02:08 PM Impressive. Especially the 100mph traps considering its size and 250hp rating. A lighter 227hp WRX that'll turn 14.2 in the 1/4mile only traps around 93mph. Usually, it is the EVO's and STi's that trap close to 100mph.
Beanboy 10-01-2004, 02:15 PM I'd say most folks are getting 14.0-14.4 @ 94-96 with the GT. Still not too shabby. 60 foot times are still high for AWD. Cooler temps on the way should help a bit, along with folks ripping out cats and getting remapped.

That's actually a lot faster than most WRXes I see at the track. ;)
mgreen 10-01-2004, 02:58 PM Crappy 60ft's are due to crappy tires; even w/ the AWD.
I love these cars. Throw on a decent summer tire, and 1.8's should be no prob.
Melee Penguin 10-02-2004, 06:01 PM Don't forget the elevation. ;)
95GRNZ 10-03-2004, 10:13 AM Yeah, I read the comparo they had in C&D recently and was quite impressed about what they said about the Legacy.
It's still bland looking car, but so is the GTO... (Disclaimer: The views expressed in the previous sentence are just the views of the writer of this answer. ;))

Beanboy 10-04-2004, 01:50 PM Like the fact you can get a wagon, something I'll being doing shortly in fact.

Ken S 10-04-2004, 05:36 PM What i hear the 5 speed trans of the WRX is the equivalent of our 10 bolts in the Camaro's - the weak link, especially when you start adding more traction with more "shock" and power.
I'll pass until they put the beefier 6 speed in.

Well, the my04s are stronger 5 speeds and the 6 speed from the Sti are even stronger
Beanboy 10-05-2004, 09:41 AM The Legacy is running a revised, reinforced 5MT. Been out in the XT Forester for two years now, and people are running 300HP to the ground through them. Seems they have solved the case flex problem.
Ken S 10-05-2004, 02:29 PM Hmm! good to know!!

Beanboy 10-05-2004, 03:41 PM Yeah, same here. Some issues with the automatic HVAC controls, some engine stuttering which seems to be software related, and a couple of other niggly problems. The stuttering has me a little concerned, but I'm going with a re-map (and catless uppipe) soon after purchase, so no real worries.
What I wanted:
wagon/hatch to fit all of my camping/hiking/boating crap.
AWD/decent ground clearance for fire trails/ski trips.
Manual transmission.
Priced under 30K.
Sub 15 quarter mile times stock.

Evil Turbo SS 10-25-2004, 04:12 AM Everything is fast nowdays. Soon my lawnmower will run 13s.
Beanboy 10-25-2004, 01:28 PM Sweet... Let's line them up! :D Going to be tough not to mod, especially since there is so much that carrysover from the WRX and STi.
Going to be my first new car, first wagon, first AWD, first turbo, and first import. Hopefully it won't become first car to burst into flames or similar, hehe.
My immediate family has been Mopar fans for 25+ years. Over the past two years, 5 Mopars have been replaced with 2 Fords (Focus, Mustang) 1 Honda (CR-V) 1 Audi (A4) and now me with a Soobie.

I really love what Subaru is doing. If i had the funds, i would look into the WRX, Legacy 2.5T GT, and STi. Ahh, toss in the Mitsu EVO as well. Perhaps when the prices come down, i might trade the z28 and Suzuki in, and with a little extra cash, pick one of them bad boys up assuming i'm still living up north (tons of snow). If not, i'll stick with my z28.
Congrats on the new purchase btw. And NOT Modding is NOT an option:D.
Beanboy 10-25-2004, 10:31 PM Oh boy, it is gonna be tough to not mod the thing into a 12 second power wagon, hehe. Put 100 miles on it tonight, woohoo!

Out on the highway last night, seem to get better results rolling on the throttle versus just stabbing it in the 3K-5K range. Everything from cat in uppipe, slightly mismatched turbine wheels. and electronic throttle are being blamed. In any case, the thing pulls well for a family wagon. 60-80 in top gear has the torque peak hit right around 70... :D
