Finally ran my LT1 Cutlass

Wanted to brag a little on my LT1. The car is my daily driver/grocery getter and I finally got off my butt and took it to the track. With a set of M/T ET radials, and a 4k clutch dump it went 8.95 (1/8th mile, duh!) with a 1.98 60 foot. Mind you, this is a stone stock LT1 right down to the exhaust manifolds. Dual exhaust, a homemade CAI, and 3.73 gears are the only powertrain mods. I kept it (and me) cool in the staging lanes by running the A/C (which kept the cooling fan on). Ha! I was within a tenth of most of the stock LS1 f-bodies that were running. Now it's time to see about some headers, a cam, and head work! :p

Nice!! Is that car full weight? I've always loved g-bodies and was thinking about starting a monte carlo project if I ever get the z done.

Yep, full weight and then some. Power everything, right down to the radio antenna, plus about 50 lbs worth of stereo gear. I had to get rid of my '99 Trans Am when my little girl came along, so I built this car to kind of take it's place. G-bodies will carry the family in comfort, and can be quick too!

Nice! I used to have an 85 cutlass but stopped driving it because of the gas mileage (had a 350 rocket with a 650 edelbrock, th-350 tranny with a stall)

How hard was it to put the T-56 in there?

Not hard, but time consuming. It took a while to graft the f-body and g-body pedal assemblies together and make a mount for the clutch master cylinder. Then making a aluminum console top plate and custom bent shifter stick to come out the console in the right place. It's so much more fun to drive with a stick than with the auto!

Any pics? I'd like to see it and how it looks under the hood.

Yep, I've got a few. Don't have anywhere to host 'em though. I can email them to you, or give me a couple days and I'll try to get them hosted somewhere.

very cool!
there is a place here where i live and they take old B-body taxis, yank the LT1 and will put it in any rear wheel drive car (within reason) for $1500
theres a guy with a Regal running around that has an LT1 in it, pretty cool stuff

That is what burnouts are for. Burnouts=clean tires.
