This kid i work with has a 79 vallary(sp?) with a 440 bored 30 over. anyway he thinks he can just smoke the doors off me. he has(please excuse the bad spelling:D)

MSD blaster 2 supercoil
no ps/heat/air
3.91 gears
8 3/4 differential
727 torqueflight trans w/ BM shift kit.

he wrote it all down for me so i posted it, just wondering what you guys thought of the line up.

he also has some wider tires and is kinda jacked up in the back.

let me know what you think he'll do against my car.

You're likely refering to a Volare (http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/332000-332999/332189_1_full.jpg), and though he says it is a 440 (and anything is possible), it wouldn't surprise me if it were a low compression 318. Those engine are very durable, but not much of a threat. Another possibility is a 360, which still only makes it a high 15 second car in mostly-stock form.

If he has stock, unported heads, you'll smoke him.

If you could hook up I think you will murder him.

As soon as you get the tires to hook, you will whip him.

The motor and tranny were out of a 67 road runner and he said the heads are "irregular" idk that the hell that means but he says the compression is like 10.5:1. thanks for the input!

I notice you didn't post anything about headers or free flowing exhaust or even aluminum intake/big carb.....but regardless If your car has everything you say it has then you'll put the hurt on him BIG time, no worries....

With older cars it reallly hit and miss, since they could have anything, and he might be sand bagging you. It seems to me that some run like crazy and others are finding it hard to get out of the 15s...

If he's blabbering about firewire and a supercoil, then I don't think he's much of a threat. Someone that was actually a threat would have been talking about stuff like what type of heads he has and the duration/lift on his cam, not how many volts he sees at his spark plugs...

He did mention a Purple Cam. It was Mopars 3/4 race cam... probably around .525 lift, 114 degrees, not a lot of overlap.

thanks for the info guys! it just really pisses me off when ppl talk **** about my car and they don't even know what all it is...he makes a big deal outta his almighty "big block" vs. my crapy small block. then he starts saying crap like i don't even have 400rwhp, vs his 435 fwhp. idk about you guys but when idiots start talkin sh!t about your cars don't you get a lil pissed :mad: ? i know i do! :D either way i told him that i'd race him for a 100 bucks next summer at the track in the 8th mile. cars being put away next week so can't do it before it gets too cold.
