Got a great deal on a '69 396, and I have an 83 Z sitting in the yard, so I am thinking....sounds like fun, but I haven't seen a lot of information on the swap so I came here. Hooker sells headers for the swap, are they needed or will the stock manifolds work? What about the oil pan clearance? The motor came out of a pickup truck......

I know that the rearend will likely pass away first, but right now I am more concerned with getting this thing in and running. Any help is welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

Big block thirgens are fun. I had an 84HO z28 back in 94-95 That I put a 468 Big Block in. There was no such thing as traction in that thing. This was before the net and all the aftermarket thirdgen parts of course. If you have the engine and the car I say go for it............jt

I have no idea what it's like to drive a BBC third gen on the street since mine is strip only but my 454SS truck is a daily driver.
