Trans Am Foglight Upgrade

Well I was at the second largest swap meet in the state yesterday and I found a vendor selling foglights. The vendor had a couple different sets of 4" round ones. I found two boxes of Blazer 2200's almost all the other fog lights were 25 dollars I asked how much for the Blazers and the guy said 8 dollars so i figured i couldn't go wrong. When I got home today I read up on the blazer lights at ls1.com and they said that the 2200's had an amber color to them. I almost didn't put them in when i read that but I figured I only paid 8 dollars for them so I installed them. I just took a test drive and all I have to say is wow! It's a night and day difference with these things on. They also are a lot whiter than the stock sealed beam headlights.

They were really easy to install. The first one took an hour and a half since I was trying out different things to make it a clean install. But the second light only took about 20 minutes to install.

So to anybody that has a bulb go out in there stock headlights foget about putting a new bulb in and pick up some cheap 4" fogs.

It may be different, but on my dad's '94 Z28, I replaced a foglight that I got off of a '97 Z and it was a quick swap, what took u an hour and a half!?

I had to modify the stock mounting brackets and then modify the brakets that come with the blazertech units. I also took the old bulb out and made a connector out of it so I didn't have to hack up the stock wiring. When i did the soldering to make that connecter up i had a hell of a time getting the solder to stick. I had to sand down the contacts and then it stuck fine. I took my time to make sure I didn't goof anything up and after i had it down the second one only took me 20 min. from start to finish.

Z's and TA's have a different way of accessing them, we (TransAms) have to get under the car, and unbutton the front bumper cover to gain access to change our bulbs, you just go from the front right?

I was able to access my drivers side foglight via the top... just put the headlights up and I was able to reach it easily. I have pretty fat hands too :D With the Camaro, I had to pull those pins out from the cover while laying on my back and then squeeze my hands between the cover and the front clip to get to the bulbs.

Didn't really look at the passenger side but I wouldn't think it'd be all that much harder.
