What do you paint steering wheels with?

I'd like to replace the cracked steering wheel in a '69 with YearOne replacement, but they're available only in black.

I want to stay with the original plastic style wheel, not go to rosewood or anything aftermarket.

The factory ones are color molded all the way through. If I buy one and paint it, what type of paint should I use, and how well does it wear?
