Cuco85T/A 09-24-2004, 02:06 AM Back when I had the Trans-am I would race my friends '95 240sx and we were pretty even most of the time  (the car had major issues with the tranny and overheating). Well naturally when I bought the Z he wanted to race to see where his car was at compared to mine.
One day I was following him to his house and he said he wanted to do a quick little run on an empty street by his house. His car is stick with exhaust, short-shifter, and some suspension work. We raced from a stop and I immediately put a car on him with me spinning. It was a lot closer of a race because my tranny hits the rev limiter if I don't let go of the gas :( . I hit the rev limiter on the first three gears, but I still beat him decisively. :D
I'll have to start worrying though if he does the skyline motor swap that he wants to do on his car  .
GreenDemon 09-24-2004, 12:35 PM Don't worry, the skyline isn't as gravity defying as everyone makes it out to be. ;)
Fix your car, add some bolt-ons, and you should still be way out in front.
FastZinTennessee 09-24-2004, 03:44 PM Skyline motor swap:lol: A buddy of mine wanted to do that in his 89 240SX, but I talked him into shoehorning a built LT1 in there
Antz97ZNJ 09-24-2004, 07:12 PM Yea Id start modding, vert autos arent the fastest stock LT1's

No, but they are some of the nicest. :D
MrDino 09-27-2004, 03:28 AM I might be a bit biased cause a friend of mine has a 240, and while he himself will admit they are definitely no strip cars, with enough boost, and their 2700ish pounds, i'd say they can be pretty quick.
Antz97ZNJ 09-27-2004, 08:18 PM No, but they are some of the nicest. :DNot a big fan of verts at all, but I did see a nice LT1 yesterday...think it was a mistic Z w/ a brown top, very nice...Some chrome ZR1's and a ton of mods it would be perfect

My friend has showed me some pretty sick 240s in magazine and online. He's not sure if he's going to turbo his own motor, swap the skyline motor, or do the sr20/silvia swap.

Well to each his own. To be honest I didn't give much attention to convertibles either, but I fell in love with mine: white w/black stripe down the middle, black top, and 16 inch 5-spoke trans am rims (I think  ).

I have two friends with 240's. One has an '89 with an rb25det and the other has a '97 with an sr20det. I would suggest going with the sr20det. It's easy to do and has a large aftermarket (not to mention inexpensive). The rb takes a lot more work. Let me know if you want any pics of the engines.
FastZinTennessee 09-28-2004, 07:39 PM I would like to see some pics of the one with the RB25 in it.
toneloc12345 09-28-2004, 08:14 PM SR20DET is a lot cheaper and is a fairly straight forward swap. Most engine+trans+ecu +harness swaps are $1500 for a redtop a little more for a blacktop. I was going to buy a 89-93 240 before i found my car and could get a loan for it, no loan for 240. Car= $2000 engine swap with all the goodies=$4000
TONY

Yeah, if it's not too much trouble send me the pictures so I can show my friend some of his options, thanks.
