No mods for while though, not going to have any extra money to spend on car parts for a while. of course now i'll have to pay attention to those LS1 guys chatting amongst themselves. LOL

yeah what he said!!!!!!
CoryM 09-23-2004, 01:53 AM Cool Shaun.
Question though, looking at the specs its 400hp, 390ft/lbs, and 3500lbs. Is it faster than the (heavier) 4th gens?
97TA-WS6-Con 09-23-2004, 09:19 AM D'oh
Let me find pictures somewhere else.
Try this link, I don't know if you need be registered for this thread. Need high speed for this link though.

GM cliams 4.7 sec but no one has beem able to dupe that. Trade mags are about 5 sec. However they run on run flat tires and that combined with SOME consideration to a classic "comfy ride" results in some ugly wheel hop problems.
This is not a drag machine. This is a cruiser / road racer and damn find at that. It does the Nurbering (sic) track quicker then a vette and almost the same time as the Z06.
Basically its a four door Z06. :)
Hope to pick it up Monday.
Tw!tchb!tch 09-23-2004, 11:01 AM What color did u get
JD30thZ28 09-23-2004, 01:01 PM Very Nice, can we assume you will bring it out to mission once :D
CoryM 09-23-2004, 01:06 PM It does the Nurbering (sic) track quicker then a vette
Seriously? Cool man. Take those soft caddy springs (I assume springs, not airbags/hydraulic) and add some stiffer ones. That will also help the wheelhop (not fix it though). I figure Ill get the wheels rolling before it even arrives :D .
sideways_Into_3rd 09-23-2004, 03:32 PM Dang !! when can we all come and "initiate" this new car into the club ;)
good job shaun :thumb: !! the bird is now crying, it feels left out
97TA-WS6-Con 09-23-2004, 06:16 PM What color did u get
Bbbbbbblack :)

Well if you want, come early on Saturday and maybe we'll go for a "spin".
However, it is not currently possable to change the springs. They are some fancy system and interrelate with the shocks. You CAN upgrade the shocks to some high end ones from GM at some significant cost and I hear that they do help - although do not eliminate - the wheel hop. The '05's now basically have them installed as a "non optionable" option. for an extra $2,000 :rolleyes"
97TA-WS6-Con 09-23-2004, 06:47 PM Nürburgring Nordschleife laptimes:
Corvette Z06 = 7 min XX secs
Lamborghini Diablo SV = 8 min 9 secs
Ferrari 360 Modena = 8 mins 9 secs
Porsche 993 Turbo = 8 min 12 secs
BMW Z8 = 8 min 15 secs
CTS-V = 8 mins 19 secs
BMW M3 = 8 mins 22 secs
BMW M5 = 8 mins 28 secs
Honda NSX = 8 min 38 secs
Honda S2000 = 8 min 39 secs
Corvette C5 = 8 min 40 secs
so a lot quicker then the C5 but not as quick as a Z06. Pretty good company though. Can you imagine doing ONE lap of a race track that takes 8+ mins? THAT would be way cool.
CoryM 09-23-2004, 08:16 PM 21 seconds is huge. Must have been a one lap thing rather than a best of many laps. Either way thats cool. Didnt realize it was that much of a performer. Will be neat to see. I guess it has those funny magnetic shocks that are becoming popular on high end cars. Nurburgring is neat in that its technically not a race track. Its just a private toll road :D . Just so happens to not have a speed limit. You can pay $20 for one lap and you can also get a years unlimited pass for about $1100. You know where I would be if I lived near there every chance I got . Im working saturday so it will have to wait for another day.
Cheers.
97TA-WS6-Con 09-23-2004, 08:31 PM Going to see you Saturday night though, Right?
CoryM 09-23-2004, 09:10 PM Yes, for the 3rd time ;) .
Be about 8pm before I get there though unless you want me there in my work clothes. With you and the trans-am I suppose thats always possible
Bristol 09-24-2004, 05:34 AM Where did you get it from?
97TA-WS6-Con 09-24-2004, 09:09 AM Dawson Creek of all places.
I call Greg Barnes. He had an '05 demo car. He offerred it to me for $69,900. MSRP is about $75k. I paid a LOT less then $82k :)
This car is an '04 with 3000 kms. It cost the original owner $69k plus PST and GST when he bought it. It was a very expensive 3000 kms. I could have bought a cheaper one in the States - and there have been a few occassions of buyers remorse since. The original game plan was to buy a high mileage car so that I could pay it off quicker and have some mod money. However, its done now and just means I'll have to wait an extra year paying it off before the mods start. :)
bunker 09-24-2004, 10:14 AM Very nice car Shawn, but it doesn't belong here :D
Tw!tchb!tch 09-24-2004, 11:17 AM It has the heart and soul of the LSx beating inside so it belongs
97TA-WS6-Con 09-25-2004, 07:57 PM ....two more sleeps
