I never see anyone around here or on this site that stuck with their 2:73s. Anyone else keep their 2:73 and run 12s?

I am about to invest in some DRs to see just how fast I can go on stock gears and heads. My times in the sig are with a 3000 stall, LT4 hotcam kit, SLP Mids, cut-out, spohn lower control arms and a Bryan Herter tune. I have the usual free/cheap mods done too.

The time in my sig is on street tires cutting a 1.9 60'. The weather that day wasn't the greatest either, so in good DA, I'm expecting a 12.6 at least. Then throw on some ET streets to take off another .1 or .2.

When I had an old 383 SBC in my car it had 3.27 gears and ran 12.0 at 117 mph. Big mph for the ET but the engine was only starting into the powerband as I crossed the finish line because of the bad gearing.

Deep gearing is torque multiplication. The faster you get off the line, the quicker you'll be providing you don't run out of rpm and gear before the finish line.

My 98 Camaro ran mid 12's with 2.73 gears. I did have a PI 3200 converter with bolt on's. Stock heads/cam.

Yea you also have a LS1 and he has a LT1...major differance, cant even compare. Times look normal, guys w/ your mods and 373's run low 12's high 11's...Id just get the 373's those 273's really blow, your converter would work alot better also, plus it will be alot more enjoyable to drive , couldnt wait to get my 273's outta my old 97
