disconnect exhuast after y - hurt or help 1/4
okay going to track tonight and trying to squeeze a bit more out of car- if i disconnect the exhuast after my cats (aka before muffler) with my shortie headers will this help my time or hurt-
ive heard arguments from both - but basically it would be like running cutout which seems to have good gains....
mods are only SLP shorty headers- K&N - TB bypass -

should give you a good tenth, but its kinda a pain to unhook. I drove my car around like this for a while, it had lots of vibration, but wasn't to bad sound-wise. I felkt more upper rpm power

You're right, that is like having a cut-out (or like running open headers sorta) and it should help IMO
. Hell, we got almost ~5 mph more out of my Dad's '73 by opening up the headers fully!
The car also dropped from running 13.2's down to 12.79, and that launch wasn't the greatest, so I think the car still has more in it!
The next time I take my car to the track, I'm thinking about opening the exhaust too (thinking of installing a cut-out before I go
