Is the kit new? If the belt is kind of close, you may have to loop the belt around the blower pulley, put the belt around the crank pulley while it is off the car and then install the crank pulley.

Hate to dig up this thread but this was all i could find.. Im trying to help a friend out with his car.. we put the pulley on like you guys said with a 7.65 crank pulley and a 3.4 blower pulley.. its tight as hell.. its a spring loaded tensioner and its maxed out.. the belt is a little used I guess from the guy who sold it to him.. but that wasnt his pully setup. Its a forged 355 by the way.. He doesnt want to drive it like that.. Anyone?

With a 7.65 and a 3.40 pulleys, it should take a 42 in belt. It will be tight, but a 43" will be too long. There is no such thing as a 42.5.

I just so happen to have an LT1 on a stand in the shop with a ProCharger on it...

Went out and dug up the 3.40 pulley and a couple belts. The 43" inch belt should work if it's new, but if it streches much, you will run out of tensioner travel, and the tensioner could end up against the blower pulley. The 42" belt should work fine.

One thing to look out for when using the 42" belt, is make sure the spacer on the back side of the bracket on the 9/16 head bolt (for the tensioner) is not hitting the blower. That's what it sounds like you are experiencing. The tensioner was not maxed out on my setup, like you said yours was.
