I see a lot of polished wheels that look just like chrome wheels but are cheaper. Other than chrome wheels are chrome plated what are the differences between the 2? Shine wise they look the same, no?

From how i understand it anyway.

Why does that last post look like Chrome vs. Silver Painted?

Personally, I think chrome looks cheap and polished looks awesome.

haha, that's what I was saying.

WS6 wheels are polished. They do appear similar, but you are right, chrome wheels are just dipped and plated on, while polished are just that.

Your right Michael, i fixed it.

That new link still looks like a painted wheel . . .

To me polished looks shiny and chrome looks like a wheel wrapped in tin foil, ghetto-rific like a fake gold watch.

Polished is better IMO. Chrome peels off and pits. Once that happens you are screwed. Chrome shines a little more I think though.

polished = :barf:
Chrome = :bow:

With a polished wheels you have to spend HOURS almost WEEKLY just to keep a decent shine. And once is goes dull :barf: looks discusting, almost like a dirty white wheel.

Chrome will chip but thats like years and years after daily driving and poor maintance.

chrome 100000000000000000000000000x better than polished.

Ditto, my buddy had to spend hrs polishing his polished rims every week. I just walk out and in about 10-15mins per rim with chrome polish they look like new again.

Some polished wheels are clear coated, completely removing the need or ability to polish them. Of course, advantages and disadvantages apply.

agree - even dirty they still shine- yesterday i took a rag and spent 2 min just wipping them down and they were reflecting off the asphault - thats why i like chrome -

personally i always like polished better but since i got my Y2k's i love chrome

Here's a comparison: Chrome (http://oewheels.net/d-zr1-c.JPG) vs Polished (http://www.go-fast.org/z28/photos/ccw1.jpg)

I've always like polished better, it looks "deeper" or "richer" to be, whereas chrome looks like it's on the surface. If that makes any sense. Polished typically weighs a bit less, if that matters. I don't know how much though...
