Whats the average? MarkyMark 09-15-2004, 04:43 PM I use 20 psi and do about a 2-4 second or so burnout and then roll out of it, just enough to get a little smoke and clean em off real good. It doesnt take much for me to hook though, so if you have more power or steeper gears then you may wanna do a longer burnout or try a little less psi in them. Best thing to do is trial and error, try one thing one time and another thing the next time and see what is best for your individual setup. TedH 09-16-2004, 07:07 AM Get them to spin, when you see smoke, roll ahead and out of the burn. I can't imagine any more than that being necessary. Get to know your track conditions and the feel of the car. With practice and experience you will learn when to hold it for an extra second or two and when not to. Whoever said to go 20-30 seconds obviously isn't paying for your tires. LT1Squirrel 09-16-2004, 01:25 PM if you hook with a 5 second burnout, no reason to waste 25 more seconds of rubber lol :D Spinner 09-19-2004, 03:23 PM What he said. I bring it through first, into second, start to roll, when they grab I let off and roll up to the line. LameRandomName 09-19-2004, 06:49 PM If you are getting those little balls of rubber, you are heating it too much. People are really wedded to the idea of doing a burnout, but you really should try starting with NO burnout at all and seeing how it works. If you get more than about 1/2 to 1 full rotation on launch (Paint a white stripe on your tires with the same "shoe-polish" and have someone watch your tires on launch), then you can look at heating them. Begin with just a quick 1-2 second spin to clean them, and if that's not enough try 3-5 seconds. Those aren't hard & fast numbers... your burnout times will vary depending on weather and track conditions. Just try to do as little a burnout as possible and shoot for 180 degrees of tire rotation on launch. (You want a little bit of spin, just a wee bit, so your driveline feels less of a shock.) | ||
