What to run on front w/ Zr1'sFlyboyZ28 09-12-2004, 11:26 PM I have me Zr1's i havent bought tires for yet and I didnt know what tires to run on the front. I would like a budget tire that is gonna have somewhat the same looking tread as the nittos i plan on running out back. Klypto 09-13-2004, 12:46 AM I just got Nitto555 all around(non-DR) 255/40/17 front $133 each(shipped) 275/35/18 rear $204 each(shipped) www.discounttiredirect.com 17x8.5 18x9.5 y2k wheels... Will84 09-13-2004, 10:55 AM Depends on how wide the wheels are. 17" x 9.5": You should run 275/40-R17 17" x 11" : You should run 315/35-R17 You can't just pick a tire size and say "hmm... that fits". You have to put some thought into it. Just for reference: My combo Front: 275/40-R17= 10.82" wide, 25.66" tall Rear: 315/35-R17= 12.40" wide, 25.68" tall Klyptos combo Front: 255/40-R17= 10.03" wide, 25.03" tall Rear: 275/35-R18= 10.82" wide, 25.57" tall FlyboyZ28 09-15-2004, 05:47 PM Yeah was planning on running 315 nittos out back and some brand of 275's up front. I was just wondering on a less expensive type of tire (brand) to runo on the front. Thanks Dan Kataklysm 09-15-2004, 06:37 PM Remember when you buy a cheap tires its cheap for a reason. It'll usually wear faster, have bad traction or a lower speed rating. Personally I wouldn't screw around with tires since they are probly the most important things on the car since they are the only thing that makes contact with the road. FlyboyZ28 09-15-2004, 09:50 PM I can see that arguement. What i meant by less expensive is that I don't need the most expensive tire that you can buy. I mainly want something that is gonna half way match the tread pattern and would look good with Nitto DR's on the back. Will84 09-16-2004, 09:49 AM I would call a local shop, look on etire.com or tirerack.com to see what options they have. Cheap tires are cheap for a reason... BUT, there aren't too many "cheap" tires at this size. There are good, cheaper tires. Unless you're gonna be racing this car in Auto-X... I wouldn't worry about spending a butt-load of money on front tires. Especially since you're wanting to run drag radials out back... sounds to me like you're more interested in straight line performance anyway. | ||
