Well last night my buddy calls me up to say his dad is at the track racing his lightning and wants me to come down and see what i can do... Ive never raced on an actual track before and to be honest never raced with this new camaro i just got on the road - all others were either v6's or autos... so without any time to prep i hoped in car and off we went
We went to New York International Raceway (NIRP) and let me just say i had the best time of my life (even though i was on a hardcore learning curve)
anway - car is a 97 Z28 m6, with 99k on it - only mods were K&N FIPK, TB bypass, and SLP shortie headers, car also had SS Hood and 18" Nitto 555's
well first run i was nervous as hell, never really launched this car and nevermind a z28 M6, so i really didnt know best technique or RPM with my Nittos... ohh and all the runs i had a full tank of gas, and a 200lb passenger-
anyway - my first run was a 16.8 due to me spinning first, second and partial into third and then - and they improved slowly.
this was my best run - still with passenger and i spun through 1st and into 2nd off the line (http://www.technologyorgasm.com/upload/timeslip5.jpg) (IM # 112)
im going back next weekend to practice some more and this time i wont bring a passenger and will prob put some of my mods back on - im thinking with a bit more practice- my exhuast - underdrive pulleys and, tune up and minus 200lb passenger i might have a chance at 13's....
damn im hooked now- ohh and the lightning was running consistant 13.10's with its street tires (having hard time not spinning through 1st) its a sick truck too-
