WestCoast96Z28 09-10-2004, 04:20 PM Looking at getting the BMR boxed SFC (weld-on) and was wondering if they were visible after they're installed. I hear they hang pretty low. Choosing b/w red or black, and I don't want this long red metal thing hanging down right under the door. If visible, I'll go black.
I don't mean "put your head on the ground" visible...more of just normal view of the car as you walk by or drive by.
If you have any side pics of your 4th gen with the BMR boxed SFCs welded on, that would help as well.
Thanks.
ledfootz28 09-11-2004, 01:02 AM well i seen them on a SS and they hung down pretty low.you gotta be more than 10 ft or so away from the car to see them.they do come lower than tubular but why wouldnt you want ppl to see them,IMO they look awsome.
im def gonna get a set this winter.
Xride 09-11-2004, 12:42 PM paint them flat black and no one will ever notice they are there.
I think tehy hang down about 3/4" just like the SLP ones.
Terran2k 09-11-2004, 01:40 PM the bmr boxed from a few years ago was more visible, but the ones i put on my car, the newer design, really tuck up well, only way i can tell they are there is to get down on the ground next to my car, they're black as well, you wouldnt notice.
Bud M 09-12-2004, 11:49 AM Go with the black, it'll be fine
I have the old design and you can see them from the side but since they're black you don't notice them.

Same here, seems they redesigned them, they are well hidden.
Red96Lt1 09-13-2004, 01:24 PM I wanted to be able to see them, and I can barely see them, and they are silver! You have to be like 14 feet away to be able to see them at all.
Norm Peterson 09-14-2004, 09:05 AM . . . but why wouldnt you want ppl to see them . . .Why would you? Remember that most people that you might meet in the course of a normal day don't know what they are or what they do, so their first thoughts go something like "What are those things that hang down under the floor for?" and "Why did he paint that?".
The people who do know what they're all about will notice them anyway.
Whose opinion do you think is more valuable? The many people who have merely demonstrated that they aren't blind, or the few who actually appreciate what you have done?

WestCoast96Z28 09-15-2004, 07:33 PM 9T7 Trans Am,
Thanks for the pics...man they really are visible. When did you buy yours? Looks like some folks say the newer ones are tucked in better.
I'm gonna stick with boxed, because I have red boxed BMR rear LCAs...so kinda look cool if it were all boxed. But gonna go black...don't mind my LCAs being red which are visible if you look past my rims...that ain't bad. My STB is red, but who the hell is gonna look at my engine, unless it's a buddy.
But being THAT visible...not sure if I want everyone seeing them. I like to keep my ride as subtle as possible...rims, exhaust..can't help that...but don't want to draw any more attention that necessary...especially living in California, where everything is illegal.
Thanks for everyone's comment..again the Board has provided very useful advice. :D

I ordered mine directly from BMR, but you could probably get in on a Group Purchase and get like 10-15% off most of the time. I chose boxed for the rigidity before I realized they would hang that low. I reaqlly wanted the Double Diamond version, but I didn't have the funds. Good luck! One of the best mods I have done to improve the handling.
