Killed a GTP

While cruisin with a friend, we noticed a honda and a gtp racing, the gtp won by a fairly large margin so we followed him and asked him to race and he agreed. We went from a dig and it was preaty much even until second gear when i put a carlenght on him and it ended up preaty much the same. I got him by about 1 1/4 cars, but only went to around 105mph since the new PCM i got has a speed limiter set at 105. He wa driving alone and got the inside lane on a small curve, while i had a 210 pund friend and 100 punds worth of audio equipment.

I tought i was going to be able to get him by more than that, but i guess i need a tune for my cam and heads.

what do you guys thinks about the GTPs, btw his was stock

Re: Killed a GTP

The last one I raced at the track, ran a 12.3. Not stock of course. But, I've raced quite a few in the high 13's-low 14's with minimal mods.

Good Kill, GTPs can be made fast with minimal mods. What are impy heads and cam?

Re: Killed a GTP

There heads of an impala which flow a lil more, and the cam which makes more torque dow low but drops off sooner.

Re: Killed a GTP

Oh ok, thanks. But why did you opt for them versus another heads or cam setup?

Re: Killed a GTP

Didnt really opt for them. My old engine went dead and i got ahold of a LT1 of a impala, and didnt bother to swat the heads and cam. It feels stronger in the lower RPMs but after racing the GTP i think it lost some power up top. Im a bit dissapointed since i found out the GTP run 15 flat and i was only able to put a car on him

I think GTPs can do better then a 15 flat? Maybe thats just me..Dont be so hard on yourself.

The Imapala LT1 was rated at 260 hp 330 tq, i am trying to find out what RPMS both of those are but my pc keeps locking up.

Re: Killed a GTP

Do you know what was done to the GTP?
I ran a GTP at the track before and he ran a 14.6 with his airbox removed. No other mods. I pulled like 8 car lengths on him, maybe more. Were you spinning at all?

Re: Killed a GTP

I spun a lil bit on the start but still got him by 1/2 at the start. I went back to were we raced and its just a preaty long curve so maybe thats what made it be closer since he had the inside lane.

Asfar as i know his completely stock, and yeah the Imapals are rated at 260 but have more restrictive intake and exhaust so that is what causes the lower rating.
