So I crawled under the car today to see why my QTP elec cutout stopped working (thought it came unplugged again) and came to realize that the entire motor is gone!!! :( All that is left is a housing with the gear to control the valve, everything else is gone. To say the least I'm pretty pissed off. I emailed QTP today to see what they say...........maybe they will let me ship it back and repair it for a reasonable price. And whats worse, I bought it used so warranty is probably out of the question.
Anyone else hear of this happening before??

Mine did that too, except i didnt lose the motor, it was being held on by the wiring dragging along the pavement.
Mine was out of waranty, I just called them and they took very good care of me :)

Mine QTC did the same thing.....I think its common for it to do that. I took my QTC apart and its connected by only two tiny screws, hecka dumb. Get a DMH cutout..its WAY better. Good quality cutout, I have it a recommend it fully. DMH (http://www.dmhperformance.com/) ;)

jeez, im shocked, i thought it only happend to mine and it was a fluke. obviously not. going down the freeway, cutout open, i hear the car get super quiet, and think, WTF? pull over, and the damn motor is dragging, held on by only the wire (thank god its the locking type connector). I am sending mine back tomorrow, they qouted me a good deal, and I think it will come back with the better sealing motor (what QTP said). we will see!

I know this is an old thread, but the same thing happened to me two days ago. I bought the cutout used and had a new motor put on it about five months ago. Five months and the motor just falls off:confused: This thread is about two years old and this problem is still happening? QTP did take care of me. I called them up and they said to send it in and they would take care of me. Has this happened to anyone else recently?

well, I have a DMH and it was before Dave was retailing them, but anyhow, what did mine in was I took a corner hot with the drag radials, it swayed a bit and the tire took the motor out and the motor took out the tire with a slow leak so it was a double whammy on me. I went back to look for the motor and it was splayed all over the street in bits & pieces. So I got a new motor at Graingers and rebuilt it and clocked it a little different out of the way of the tire and it's been good ever since.

It sounds like the first thing to do with all e-cutouts is to red loc-tite the screws and nuts.

That sounds like a good idea, that's what I'm going to do when mine comes back.
