I have a 94 camaro and I'm getting a custom built 396 thats going to produce over 500 - 600 horsepower. My stock 10 bolt 7.5 m6. Will it handle up. Will it hold up if I just run street tires not slicks??

Yes, with street tires.

Cool - thanks man. Just a little worried there. I dont feel like spending a extra 2k on a new rearend after a 9k motor build up. I will eventually upgrade to a 12 bolt after I pay off some money on the engine. Thanks again - Mike

Keep in mind that when he say's yes it will hold up with street tires that's for a reason. You will have absolutely no traction whatsoever. I mean none. Traction is what breaks a rear, I bet yours would last longer behind that much hp vs a stock car. They would atleast have some traction and would risk breaking it. Not to offend you or anything but it's kinda stupid to spend 9 G's on a 600hp motor when you can't even use the extra power. I wouldn't be suprized if a 300hp car with traction would be able to whoop your arse. They'll be running away while your spinning for 500 feet rowing through the gears. Again, not to offend you, so don't take it that way. Once you get a good rear so you can get some sticky tires it'll be time to hold on... :D  Also keep in mind having that much power, breaking loose at 80mph is not going to be fun or safe. Do the right thing, invest in the rear.

Yeah I agree with you. I will test the stock rearend with drag radials - It will more in likely break on me - if it does then I will upgrade to a 12bolt

put a stock clutch in it.. your rear will survive :)

I was only makeing 400hp on nitto drag radials when mine broke. You should get a better rear end and all before you do that big motor, probabily another transmission to. like a th400.
