ree9c1 09-02-2004, 04:12 AM I know most of you guys dislike the whole "bling" facter but I decided to go for it. After getting a great deal on rims and tires in my opinion I think it looks great. Who says 20's wont look good on a Camaro:cool: Z28on20's (http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/675000-675999/675900_9_full.jpg)
Injuneer 09-02-2004, 11:42 AM What is the width of the wheels? What size tires.... they look like they are too small and "stretched".
DWray 09-02-2004, 02:13 PM What is the width of the wheels? What size tires.... they look like they are too small and "stretched".
Bigtime agreed. That car sits horribly. :yuck:
I do not like Camaro's on 20s unless the wheel is more of a high-end design, like Chucky, Aircop, etc. :)
:p
95GRNZ 09-02-2004, 06:14 PM Holy Crap...
TS
pu12en12g 09-02-2004, 07:35 PM IMO, 20's don't look good on F-Bodies unless the car is lowered with a bodykit
SloTexanTA 09-02-2004, 08:03 PM What is the width of the wheels? What size tires.... they look like they are too small and "stretched".
I'll also agree with Fred. I think those wheels could have had potential if the correct tire sizes were chosen to fit properly on the wheel.
Tom
NorthernSS 09-02-2004, 10:04 PM A buddy of mine has those exact rims but in 18's on his 94 and they are nice looking wheels. I agree that the tires look off on that car and to get 20's to work on our cars, you need it lowered with some sort of gfx.
PredatorZ28 09-03-2004, 04:53 PM LOWER THAT SUMB*TCH!!!!! 4x4 camaros are not cool.. lol a guy at my work has a 4x4 vette at my work too ,with 20's.. most people dont think my wheels are 20's intell i tell them cause it looks to clean lowered.. ask crazy jim
Lucas Black 09-03-2004, 06:43 PM crkhedmatt had 19's/front and 20's/rear - HRE's....and that is when 20's look good on a camaro.... :)
PredatorZ28 09-03-2004, 07:31 PM BTW go big or go home.. hehe :)
Antz97ZNJ 09-03-2004, 07:48 PM :yuck: :barf: ... I wouldnt go any bigger then 18's on a Fbody

josh_95z28 09-06-2004, 12:55 AM thats not bling thats just wrong, like putting a 4 ft spoiler on a civic
SMOKINGV6 09-06-2004, 10:21 AM rear tires need to be wider, rims look sharp, lower the car
ree9c1 09-06-2004, 02:26 PM I knew I would get flamed:dead: but if I truely was getting the same response on the outside I would change it. People love my car:confused:. It must be the pic because I cant go anywhere without people complimenting and asking me about my car. I definately agree that the car needs to be dropped, I already have a set of wider tires. These rims are 20x9 on 245/35/20 tires:mad:. Now I understand why my tires were so cheap, there are too small. I got a set of Michelin pilot sport 275/35ZR/20 for all 4 corners. I'm having some serious issues with rubbing when weight is in the car. I figure I have to roll the fenders and get some shocks with ground control coil overs.

Who likes the way your car looks?!?! Ricers or hood rats?!?! That is a disgrace!! Take them things off! At least on this site you know that you are going to get an honest opinion on something! Well, you have it. That is absolutely hideous!! They belong on a Tahoe or an f-n escalade, not on an f-bod. That is just wrong. :alert:
chevy42083 09-06-2004, 06:36 PM Well, i can't say I really like them, but their not bad.
I dislike any car that has wheels wider than it's tires, it just looks wrong. Also, too much fender gap, and it sits a little high. Lower it just a tad, and it might be good, but it kinda needs some kinda groundfx.
Not my style, but it's not my car either.
GhostZ 09-07-2004, 04:18 AM No sir, can't say that I like it one bit.
Bryan Smith 09-07-2004, 04:25 AM You're talking to two different crowds. I know when I go out in the city, rollin around the southside You see a lot of people doing the whole.. "DEEEEEAAAMN that ish is tyte yo" to ekalaids on twinkay fow's(translation: Caddy on twenty four inch wheels, that spin and have fake wood grain on the spinners), etc. So im sure you have a lot of that around your area. Im sure if any of us put 20s on ANYTHING you'd get a lot of the "DEEEE.. DooD that zhiz is jDm tyte y0" when rollin around da hood lot. When you ask us, obvious fbody enthusiest, what were you expecting?
Anyway, return the wheels and put the money towards getting you closer to that supercharger you always wanted (right?)
ah come on, I think it looks pretty cool! plus you get bonus points for being different!

Z-RATED94 09-10-2004, 05:52 PM Sad, very very sad. I try not to knock anyones car, but, that is sad, very very sad!!!!!
ree9c1 09-11-2004, 04:30 PM Wow:eek: I must live in a different world then most of you. Thanks for the comments, atleast I know what not use when I go to GM Carlisle and other F body meets around the country. I wouldnt consider where I live being the hood but I do live right in the middle of NYC. I guess non F body ethusiast only see a sporty red car with big shiny rims. I swear to you I get nothing but praise around here. I cant stop anywhere, guys come up to me at the gas station, red lights, restaurants all over just to praise me on my car. I'm a police officer and in NYC theres cops from all different nationalities. Now a Camaro isnt for everyone, 20 inch chrome wheels arent for everyone, but theres not one officer or supervisor in my unit who hasnt made a positive comment on my car. Trust me, we do nothing but roast each other all day, especialy on cars. When I drive my 87 Monte Carlo SS I'm called dukes of hazard or a hill billy:p. I have mixed tast when it comes to cars the only thing that stays the same is I prefer American cars especialy Chevy. If I could afford it I'd have a monster pick up with flames and a huge lift parked right next to an Escalade with 24's :) I love the diversersity
ROADRAGE 09-11-2004, 05:18 PM I just looked again..the front dosent look bad, but that rear is just killin it. You need to have it widened and get at least a 295 back there...then lower it. May improve things a LOT
Cerwin Vega Fan 11-13-2004, 01:35 PM Same thing happens to me, people hate my car online but love it in person because of the rims.

Agreed. Period. In any circumstance. Anything bigger than 18's is Ghetto!
burnout04 11-15-2004, 06:29 PM Haha it looks like you are getting ready to offroad with ur Z! it looks so high off the ground! If you blocked out the body and just saw the stance of the sills, wheel wells, and rims, you would be like oh ok nice escalade, then u see the body and ur like wtf? Camaro? OH yeah plus dude your killin your braking performance, and in fact i wouldnt be surprised if you kill your rearend soon either.

Outsiders are not car guys like on this board, that's why you get compliments. They are easily impressed by big shiney things.
I love 20's on most any car as long as they are quality, good looking, good fitting rims.
I'd take the stock salad shooters over those. HONESTLY:alert:
RedHottG2 11-16-2004, 12:36 PM Nice try on looking different but I would say get the stockers back on there and save for some nice AFS 17's. :)
StormSigma 11-16-2004, 02:50 PM I sincerely hate to say this sort of thing to someone who honestly believes that their car looks good with what they've done to it, but those rims look absolutely terrible. Not to mention, I can't imagine how crappy it must ride now. "Handling? What's that? Turn radius? I dunno, I left that at the shop."
Sorry man, that car looks rough with those ghetto rimz05 on it.
hawaii 11-20-2004, 07:55 AM Somehow that car doesn`t look right with 20"
Check out my car with 19" HRE 547 wheels.

chuckys95 11-20-2004, 03:30 PM whew!
man o man, some of you guys are pretty harsh..... ;)
I mean, if you had a more correct offset (where they would tuck under the car more) along with a 2 inch drop and a set of Wings West W-Type gfx....it would be a totally different story.
i had 19 front and 20 rear setup awhile back, then i decided i wanted a "matched" set so i went 19x10 all around.
20's are do-able, if done correctly (with GFX and a good lowering)
one of the guys that started the whole 19/20 setups (crkhedmat) did it right, that's where i followed his lead.
the only 20's now will be on my slammed S10 i am currently working on.
change a few things up (add gfx and lowering springs) and you might be suprised how many opinions might change.......good luck. :thumb:
btw hawaii,
your Z is looking pretty sweet!:thumb:
ree9c1 11-20-2004, 06:51 PM If we all had the same tast this hobby would be boring. I'm not from the ghetto. Just because there big and shiny doesnt make it ghetto. The ghetto didnt create big chrome rims anyway. I do agree that its rediculous how in the south people are putting big chrome rims on regular cars. 24's on a candy coated cutlass . I wont knock them but its not my tast. thats what they like to do, then so be it. Why is it ok to drive a pick up with huge monster wheels having the car sit 15 feet tall. Double standards  It may be a cultural thing but again to each their own.
Sharker524 11-21-2004, 01:06 AM [QUOTE=ree9c1] Why is it ok to drive a pick up with huge monster wheels having the car sit 15 feet tall. QUOTE]
Because there is a purpose to those, those are tires that are so tall, not big shiny wheels. The vast majority of those guys with big tall pickups live in the country, and want that kind of height for bogging, rock crawling, etc...Not just for the look. Now what purpose is there to a big shiny wheel like what you have? None. Maybe to make the less knowledgeable think your car is cool...? Those wheels do nothing except take away from the performance of your car, which is actually a nice car, without those rims. I wonder...How much does each of those wheels weigh? 70-80 lbs? You have any idea on how much stress that puts on a drivetrain?
What makes you think that big chrome on a cutlass is any worse than big chrome on a sports car? I'd rather the big wheels on a car that isn't made to go fast and handle well. Especially when the wheels will ruin so many good points about the car. On anything it reminds me of little animals that gather up shiny stuff for their nests...lol.
ree9c1 11-21-2004, 11:30 AM I beg to differ... I lived in florida for 2 years, I remember seeing monster trucks or pick ups on huge tires on highways all the time. Nothing pratical about that:confused: Why is it soo hard to understand? I'm sure people look at some of us as being crazy on the amount of money we spend on our cars just to make it go fast. Hell, my girl thinks I'm a junky when it come to the drag strip. I have a 4 door sedan that runs mid 12's and will run 11's  after the stroker rebuild. In these days with the price of gas and atmosphere no one should be driving performance V8. Does this mean you'll stop? All I'm saying is have some consideration for other people's tast and interests. I'n my neck of the woods everyone around me drive expensive European cars like Benz and Range Rovers. Big shiny things are very popular around me. At the drag strip I do take off the 20's. but when I'm cruizing the the streets of New York City theres nothing like the attention my car gets that it doesnt get on factory rims. Old foggies at the supermarket will even tell my wow you have a jazzy car, nice wheels!

You have to get from place to place...lol. But whatever man, whatever floats your boat. Or sinks it, as the case may be...

ssmando 12-07-2004, 06:22 PM i got black 20s on a black 01 ss, 245/35/20 out front...255/40/20 out back... the car looks sharp. it needs more though...
s3gulit 12-07-2004, 07:16 PM Sell those 20's, find some 17" or 18" TOPs and save up for some performance mods...sure you've got a fast caprice...but caprices are the more "styled" vehicles for 20's...fbody's belong on anything 18" to 15" rims...no more no less...right now your camaro (bone stock im still assuming) is all show no go even if it has an ls1.
BTW: you've just increased your rolling mass greatly because no 20's are "light" hope you enjoy working on your brakes alot.
Dave

Didn't you used to get flammed all the time on "fuelslut" because of your ride?
ssmando 12-07-2004, 08:45 PM all these people that think 20s on a camaro are dumb need to stop hatin.i feel like you need a litlle bit of both to have a street ride...besides "dubs" i also have cat back exhaust, k & n air cleaner(full intake in the works), power slot brake rotors, pbr brake calipers, clear corners, street scenes front grill, custom ss hood grill, 1 10" pioneer sub, 600 watt boss amp...that is all money has allowed me to do for know...future plans include: ultra z28 hood, hypertech power programmer, gears(3.73),etc...
 bow down to the dubs

Your car looks awsome man, dont let these simple minded internet folks stop you from shining. Check your wheel wells often and be easy around pot holes.
I took my rims off for NY winter but I cant wait till spring to put them back on.
ssmando 03-10-2005, 01:37 AM thanks ree9c1, i get compliments and looks all the time.
i have to admit that the ride is a bit rougher, and my car does feel slower (heavier rims = more weight)
what matters is that i like my car
I'll keep posting more pics as i take them
