MustangEater82 08-30-2004, 07:12 PM We all know the basics of not having power...
What are some things you wish you had during a hurricane, just for comfort.
Me,
deck of cards, Wish I did all my laundry
Any other tips?
JimMueller 08-30-2004, 08:38 PM I wish I had gas appliances
I wish I had a battery operated clock which did more than just remember the time (it doesn't operate the radio, etc)
I wish I had some place to safely store my vehicle (or even a car cover)
I wish I had a bigger light emitting device than a flashlight-type device for reading, etc.
I wish I had enough clothes to go a few weeks without re-using clothing.
I wish I had emptied my freezer & refrigerator sooner instead of waiting for the power to come back on :yuck:
I wish I had bought more dry goods which didn't need preparation
I wish my employer had showers (presumably with warm water)
anasazi 08-30-2004, 09:14 PM i wish i had my mommie
:)
Kwiksilverz28 08-30-2004, 10:03 PM A generator. I may buy one in the next day, along with a small window A/C unit. Refrig and A/C were the two biggest. I would even just do a nice fan. Anything. Anyone want to sell one?

HotnSexy 08-30-2004, 10:29 PM hmm...i'd have to say some company, lol going through a hurricane with just a cat isn't much fun...
hmm...some yummy food, and soda's..
MustangEater82 08-30-2004, 11:17 PM As for the bright light...
I had a lawn tractor battery I bought form walmart. I got it for testing some car electronics I have... cost me $8. Well during the hurricane I hooked up a car foglamp with the cover off and it lit my entire apartment up(well the main room) This thing lasted a good 3 or so hours before it went bad. Beuaty was I just jumped it to my car with cables, and recharged it.
This time around I was thinking of going by the junkyard and picking up a cooling fan form a car for a few bucks. Then I can hook that up as well and have at least a fan :)
I am definitley getting more dried food this time around, I only expected to be out of power a few hours if at all, not like 5 days, with freeloading friends staying over ;)
DanBUCF 08-31-2004, 12:26 AM I couldn't ask for anything more during the last hurricane...
A few extra hot girls would've been nice though, it began to resemble a sausage fest here for our hurricane party...a bunch of the girls that said they would be here drinking during the storm wussed out last minute when they heard about the 120 mph winds....can you believe that?
All and all, we had a blast during the storm....the day after sucked ass though.

Hot'n'sweaty with college women? Where do I sign up? :D
Anything special you're doing with your cars - that is if you don't normally have access to car shelter?
The 'sort of SO' is bailing on you? What's up with that?!
MustangEater82 09-01-2004, 12:00 AM Acutally tomorrow at work, I am going to see if I can fit through the rear doors, if so I am going to drive it in the theater and park by the entrance to auditorium #12 in the hallway :)
If I don't, gonna see if I can get it in the recieving room where we get stock.
If I cannot get it in there, gonna park it under a overhang, under a stairwell, and surrounded by walls in the back of the theatre or up front under the overhang, by the box office, depending on which way the wind is blowing.

darkoverlift 09-01-2004, 07:53 AM Air, Wish I had Air.....
This sucks another major storm... Here is a trick to keep your fridge cool longer.. Freeze a case or tow of water bottles in there... As they melt drink them, but they are ice and will help keep it cool...
anasazi 09-01-2004, 08:54 AM our freezer is still empty from the last hurricane
lol
camzaro28 09-01-2004, 09:16 AM i feel ya anasazi. my freezer is still quite empty but we did do a lil shopping on dry foods!we were gonna go shopping thursday night but instead i think we are gonna go hotel shopping instead in panama city! yall have fun i am outta here
darkoverlift 09-01-2004, 11:39 AM We are all going to Die..... It is the end of th World... The five horsemen (art anderson, Rick Flair, lol)are coming....
MustangEater82 09-01-2004, 05:25 PM By the way guys, fill like some 2 liters (leave a little space for expansion) with water and freeze those.
Block ice works much much better and lasts alot longer then bags of ice.
And if it melts, its bottled water :)
My fridge was very cold during the 11 days I was out of power during andrew.

I need a place to protect my car anyway...how sturdy is that parking garage? What time is the party?! :D
HotnSexy 09-02-2004, 06:06 AM lol dunno how sturdy it is, i don't go there...working till 12 today than i'm meeting him and his friend up in jax today...i'm soooo tired...didn't go to bed till 1230 am..lol
DanBUCF 09-02-2004, 09:25 AM I need a place to protect my car anyway...how sturdy is that parking garage? What time is the party?! :D
I'm putting my car in the UCF garage...its concrete & steel, not sure if it gets any more sturdy than that. I figure if the car gets messed up thre, it was meant to be. I really can't think of any place safer to put the car during the storm other than North Dakota. :p
MustangEater82 09-02-2004, 10:11 AM garage is reall sturdy, I reccomend maybe going to the 3rd floor? and parking in the middle.
It still covered, but on all floors the sides are open, and on the 3rd floor you are highest up but covered with a roof. If I decide to park their as well I think it woudl be saver for you guys to park on either side of me, you know just in case any debris makes it up there ;)
stale 09-02-2004, 11:47 AM Give me a couple of hot underage girls and one of those big bottles of Makers Mark and I'd be set!

Sound like my kind of guy, whiskey and trouble!
JimMueller 09-02-2004, 04:27 PM Eric, you've got a PM, call me! :)
MustangEater82 09-02-2004, 05:24 PM Eric, you've got a PM, call me! :)
Yeah I saw that my phone ALREADY acting up... same thing happened with a few peopel at my work.
I think my car is gonna be parked at my work. Reason being, I might be staying at my work for this whole fiasco, and its like 1/2-3/4 mile walk to get to my place from my work, maybe quicker, never cut through the apartment complexes on foot. I would have a hard time getting my car on campus and finding a shelter and I do not wanna be stuck on campus somehow.
As for the garage, any of the garages woudl be good, I reccomend, going for the 3rd floor, and maybve parkin on the ramps, halfway up the ramp toward the middle there is usually a wall or support structure, I woudl park next ot one of those, and in leave it in 1st gear. I woudl try and do it as high as possible without being on the top. there are TONS of woods around UCF thats why I woudl aim higher. These garages do have open walls all the way around, and are not completly closed off, your car will get win but seems unlikely you will get anything to hit your car.
If you want you can PM me where you park it and I will go by(if I can) and keep an eye on it if you get stuck somewhere.
1stls1 09-02-2004, 11:47 PM I'd like a g/f, yeah a mute g/f. That way her and my wife wont talk up another storm!
4U 2 NV 09-02-2004, 11:56 PM I chance to run at the strip. A 145 MPH tail wind could do wonders for my ET. However i would either smoke the brakes or have to use the woods to stop me after its all over.
stale 09-03-2004, 07:37 AM Sound like my kind of guy, whiskey and trouble!
I live for whiskey and trouble. You're in Orlando, huh? Next time I ride out there we should hit Church and Orange for some booze and broads.
93_Z28_6spd 09-07-2004, 10:43 PM some hot Bit(h
VSGLS1 09-08-2004, 01:55 PM More bit(hes and more alcohol...ran out of alcohol...lol Cell phone wasn't working so no calling chicks after it was done.
