Cool Black Chrome: POR15 Color Chrome: Anyone Interested? Need Support!

I’ve spoken to one of the tech reps at POR15 about their “Color Chrome” and the absence of “Black Chrome” as a color choice. I know I saw that Cadillac was using this kind of blacked out chrome on some models, but didn’t know which ones. I thought it would look awesome on some custom rides, but the POR15 rep told me they mix only in a 55 gallon drum, dark colors are difficult, and they would need about 50 to 100 serious customers before they would consider it.

This is how they describe it “COLORCHROME® works by changing the color of the light traveling through it while remaining transparent enough to maintain the reflective characteristic of the underlying surface.”

Is it just me or would black be the most desirable color? I’m thinking of creating the Buick GN look without it appearing that someone did a hack job painting and just painted over the chrome. Stealth look, but one that you could still tell was bright like chrome and not painted.

If anyone is interested here’s the email address and the link for the site that describes the Color Chrome:
techsupport@por15.com [email]

http://www.por15.com/Color%20Chrome.html

I’d like to flood them with messages from people interested!

Scott

Thumbs up

BIGKerneL44,
Cool! Did you send their tech support a request? I also posted the question on the Sport Truck web site as well as oldspower.com. I'm hoping enough people will be interested that they will add it to the product line.

So, its just gonna look like black chrome?
Not fruity color like they show it on the pictures?
If so, I'm intrested.

Chrono,
Exactly! Your reaction was exactly why I was disappointed. Everything looked fruity! I would think that black would be the first color that customers would want and they weren't even offering it. I told the guy that, in the colors they offered, it looked like something a 16 year old might want, but 80% of 18 year olds wouldn’t be caught dead with. It sounded like their target was for things like valve covers. I think they missed the largest potential market by not attempting black.

Please email them with a question about offering it in black. You are NOT making a commitment by doing so, but if they get enough serious questions, they may see the light.

Also, by your posting name I assume you have a Buick GN or Turbo Regal. Feel free to copy my question or post something similar on the Turbo Buick site.

Thanks,
Scott

Thanks! It will be interesting if the same person fields your question. A rep named Mike responded to mine.
