What alternatives are there to subthump?

What sites other than subthump(and ebay of course) offer custom sub boxes for the f-body, preferably for a cheaper price?

DIY is about the only option you have. There's a place in TX that builds Stealthbox type enclosures but they are junk IMO.

Subthump is a pretty good deal IMO, I used to work at a stereo shop and they wouldn't build me a box for what subthump takes for one.

Got something against subthump? or just looking cheaper?

I had him build my box for my 94z28 and i'll have him build the drivers side stealthbox for when im ready with that.

Steve does great work.

nah, nothing against subthump, I was just hoping that if i can buy a hatchback box that'll fit my car at best buy for $70, that I could find something more custom looking (and better built) online for about the same.

Maybe if subthump had their new budget well enclosures in dual 10" size instead of 12" I'd go for that.

antoine,
The site you listed did not work.

I would think they'd be able to cut a 10 inch circle instead of the 12. Contact them, maybe the can't won't do it, but it never hurts to ask! :)

I can do 10s no problem. It's just that the 12s sell better so I listed it for 12s.

Keep in mind that those generic hatch boxes are Mass Produced meaning they make thousands of them so that brings their cost down.

To give you some perspective--your car was mass produced by a factory in canada. Suppose you wanted boyd coddington's crew to hand build you a car, do you think they'd do it for 20K? I doubt it. Probably cost you 120k.

My boxes are individually built--not mass produced on an assembly line. So comparing a mass produced rectangular box to a custom vehicle specific box is like comparing apples and oranges IMO. Degree of difficulty has a lot to do with it. A camaro box is a little more complicated and more time consuming than a square box because of all the extra angled cuts, so you can't really compare prices like that when you're not comparing similar items.

megabass,
Thanks for putting that into perspective for me, I've never really thought about it that way.

Would the dual 10" box be built with different airspace than the 12"? What (if any) price difference would there be between the 10" and 12" boxes?

Also, whats the difference between the Budget and Ultra Budget boxes? I couldnt really tell from the pics.

There's quite a bit of difference between the budget and ultra budget. The budget box is basically the dual 12 well box with carpet instead of vinyl. The ultra budget box is a whole different design, but has less individual parts and is a little simplier in design.
