Pretty sure it's a 2005, therefore an LS2.

Someone please talk some sense into me....but I'm really beginning to like the SSR, especially when I see one like this ---- lowered with some nice wheels.

Of course, there is no way I'd pay $40K for one....don't like it THAT much. Believe it or not, the thing that bugs me the most about the SSR is it's convertible top.
I think it's just so darned dorky looking, with the top down.....but very cool, with the top up. I wonder how much weight and cost it adds to the package?

About a year or two ago, there were rumors of a panel truck version of the SSR.......anyone hear anything about that?

I disagree with you on the looks, but it would be cool if they made a lower cost version with a carbon fiber fixed roof. I read the retractable hardtop adds $5000 to the price and a few hundred punds of weight.

$37,000, 3800lbs., 390Hp 6.0L SSR would probably sell pretty good, maybe give it a CF hood/roof/bed cover and make it a special edition (think Viper Carbon concept (http://applications.edmunds.com/news/autoshows/articles/100691/page007.html) )

I would love to drive a '05 LS2 6-speed, I bet its really fun to drive.

I saw a yellow SSR pace car over the weekend, but I don't know if it was a '04 or '05.

They'll have to talk some sense into me as well. :D I'm seriously considering the SSR now that it'll come with an LS2 and optional 6-speed. Especially if the Chevy Coupe ends up not being called "Camaro". :p

I agree with Z28x, I believe they should build a limited number of SSR's with a fixed carbon fiber roof, tonnuea cover(sp?), hood (with the option for ram air or cowl induction), interior pieces. Then they should lighten up the engine with some more aluminum componets, and raise the power level to 525 h.p. This would be a great competitor(sp?) to the Lightning and Srt-10 Ram. Of course this would also work great on the Silverado SS, except it should be powered by a 454 and be called the SS454 :D
