5.7 vortec in 1981 Camaro?

I am planning on purchasing a 5.7 vortec supercharged engine and I was wondering if it would fit in my 1981 camaro z28?

Yep, it'll fit. Hood clearance will almost certainly be an issue, so you'll probably need a cowl induction hood.

Which is crappy, because I love the stock hood, but it doesn't give clearance AT ALL. I don't like any other hoods, to be honest. :(

So there is no chance of it fitting under my stock hood?

not with out a lot of moddifing to the kmember and mounts... who knows ive seen chip foose and troy fit HUGE motors under stock hoods

Is this motor a stock vortec truck engine or is it just a 5.7L engine with a Vortech supercharger and a carb bonnet?

The carb unit should fit. if not you can cut the hood to fit. I'm running a custom intake set up with a stock type base w/ seal and 3" cleaner. I pulled the scoop off and cut the center out. If you look you have 2 kidney shape slots, I just cut so it's now one big hole instead of the two. I now have clearance and can see the filter coming through hood. :cool:

Its a vortec engine with a b&m supercharger.

A roots type supercharge will not fit the stock hood.
