i have the stock bose Cd Player in my car.
i swapped my 110mph speedometer for a 150mph and in the process i accidentaly dropped a screw through the top vent on the dash.

after driving the car the radio would act really weird, spitting out cds randomly and the green display screen turning on and off and the power turning on and off! (these would especialy happen if i hit bumps)

i took the radio out and found the screw i dropped laying against one of the circuit boards! i had to be a little rough with it to get the damn thing out, but i finally did.

now when i turn the car on the radio wont even turn on at all!
is it possible that when i got the screw out (using 2 metal scewdrivers) i shorted out the radio or something? i will need to buy a new one wont i?? :(

Did you disconnect power when fishing around inside to get the screw out? If you did, then nothing should be fried from the removal. However, anything could have been damaged by the screw when the radio was on, and shaking it probably didn't help. Make sure the connector is tight on the back and that the fuse isn't blown.

i did not disconnect power before trying to get the screw out. (yeah, stupid) but i never shook it or anyhting!
anyway, update:

i discovered my keyless entry didnt work and my dome lights wouldnt turn on either. so i checked the fuse for the dome lights and yep, it was bad. i replaced that and the keyless started working again along with the dome lights and the radio!
