i HAVE A 2000 CAMARO SS A4, I WANNA KNOW IF IT HAS A NUMBER? HOW WOULD I KNOW IF IT DOES? LIKE THE PRODUCTION NUMBER?

 

My Ss Is Not From Slp.. I Got It Stock.. But It Is A Real Ss Not A Z28 With Rims And Hood And Spoiler..

 

check your passenger door for the SLP sticker .......

also on the ide of the inside hood there should be same tape strips ..... (right by the headlight area)


but to get your number you will have to call SLP

 

All SS are from SLP.

 

Does anyone know the number to SLP? There is no slp sticker on the door side..

 

With no SLP stickers on the car and no plaque I'd believe your car isn't a real SS.

 

Oh i know its a reall SS... I saw it at the dealer.. test drove it but coulnd't afford it at the time.. Then i year later i bought it off the exact person who bought it.. i even have the recipts from the dealer saying he bought it for 27k and it said SS.. He bought it new..

 

Well don't you think if they put a new hood spoiler and rims and the emblem that i would see that someone messed around with the hood henges.. like the bolts would be used.. No the henges bolts that hold the hood are still painted red.. I could tell.. No one put these things on.. Its obvious..

I wouldn't worry about it, it's very uncommon for the clones to do the spoiler. A call to SLP would definitely clear it up.

 

I find it hard to believe someone stripped the SLP stickers off. Check inside the glovebox for one of them. On my car its in the glovebox and another under the hood. Do you actully have the window stickers that say it is an SS? It should tell you how much the altercation package cost and exactly what was involved.

 

im pretty sure they only numbered the 1996 and 1997 ss's im sure you have a real ss

 

There have been several threads about this in the past. I am just too lazy to do the search. Look for the code WU8 on the factory sticker. That id's it as a real SS. Not all LS1 SS's went to SLP. The hood, spoiler, and wheeels were put on at the factory for economic reasons. Only the one's that were getting the SLP second sticker options went to SLP. There is a guy in our club who has one of the "factory" cars. He was catching alot of grief about competing against stock cars at shows. But it is a fact, his car never went to SLP and is considrered stock.

Hope this clears it up, remember, WU8 on the driver's door makes it an SS.

They numbered all fourth gen. SSs.

 

PJ is correct. All SS have the RPO code WU8 for the SS option. If your car has additional SLP content, (like the level II suspension), then you should also have the Y2Y code and the SLP stickers.
