would a 3 series 373 gear work on a 2 series case

just wondering if a 3 series gear will work with a 2 series case?

Don't think so. Just get a 3 series carrier and be done with it. I don't think their very expensive.

by case do you mean the diff casing? if so yes it will fit but for a 2 series gear you need a 2 series carrier and the applies for the 3 but the (diff) casings are the same.

Series 3 gears will fit on a series 2 carrier with the use of a ring gear spacer, but 2 series gears will not work on a series 3 carrier.

where can i buy a ring gear spacer? how much does it cost?

Check Summit or Jegs. I know Mr Gasket makes some, as does Richmond and a few other people.

They typically cost around $20 or so. If you use the spacer, you will also need longer ring gear bolts. ARP should make some, but make sure they are left hand thread.
