2400 High Stall?

Is it worth getting a 2400 high stall converter now for cheap for my daily driver? Or should I wait and save up some more money for something a little bit bigger. What stall would be good for a daily driver setup?

Not worth it. My suggestion would be to wait and get a PI Vigilante 2800. Install a shift kit (TransGo) at the same time and you'll have a grin from ear to ear. Count on spending around $850 for those 2 mods.

I had a 2400 stocker type restall jobber. It made a small difference, but wasn't worth the effort of the swap.

I'd suggest a real one (9.5" or so 2800).

Make sure to get a tranny cooler too.

i had a b&m holeshot 2400 and it helped out some. but im sure the vigilante would be better. i never got back to the track after my vigilante install to see what times it would run though

I have a B&M Hole Shot 2400. It`s made a decent difference, but like everyone says, go with a PI or Yank 2800ish

I was thinking of a 3,500 for street/strip.Ill have to find the website again (But I will) it has a list of what kind or TC they recommend for the mods youve done already. With my 3.73's, cat-back and air lid it recommends a 3,500 stall. I beleive it was after Yanks products that list is on. If anyone has any clue of which site im talking about please post it for us :)

Does it really matter the brand name of the stall? If I can find a cheap deal on a rebuilt stall that has been rebuilt by a tranny shop should I go for it?

As the above posts state, you are better off with a well built TQ. They cost more, but are well worth it. In the long run a cheap TQ may well cost you more than doing it right the first time.

^^ Yea what he said. It will help in the long run for future planned mods aswell. DO NOT get a rebuilt one. Atleast i wouldn't. We all know how it is saving money but in the end its worth it. Im saving for a SC right now and its burning a hole in my pocket. Stick with it man and get ya a nice Yank:)

Ok well that will be my next big chunk of money. My friend said he got his from Dayco(sp?) for like $200 built. I want to spend somewhere around there if I could but I definitely don't want to buy a POS.

PS: I just bought some new LCA's today because my other ones are completely shot. Wonder what they will do for me... ;)

Definately definately invest the big money for a quality unit. The $200 dollar units are just not up to par. This is a for sure situation of you get what you pay for. I have a PI Vig. 3000rpm and absolutely love it. I even felt confident in buying it used and had not a single problem. Yank would be the only other stall I'd consider. Again both are highly priced, but highly worth it. A Tranny cooler is a MUST, and a shift kit is just recommended. I still say get one though. Like others mentioned, getting only a 2400 stall is hardly even worth the time and effort(or money) to install. Just save a little til you get a good one.

Tranny cooler is a good thing to have and definitly a good recomendation... but I wouldn't say it's a must... not at this point anyway. I had the PI2800 and TransGo for nearly 3 years before I installed a cooler.

Ok I may have just found a deal. What do you guys think about a 3000 high stall B&M Superholeshot Converter? Are those pretty good converters? Will a 3000 be too big for a daily driver? Please let me know. Thanks again!

A 3500 wont be bad for a daily driver. Its what you want to do to the car is the problem. Basically, where do you see it in the next say, 5 years? Supercharged, stock, what? There is no sense in getting like a 2800 if your gonna need a 3,400 (3,400 for super charged. 3,500 for not) for a supercharger or something. The LS1 makes its power up high anyways so it will be fine nomatter what you chose really. For street and street period. I wouldnt waste my money honestly, if I did then Id probably do 3,500 anyways. If you get a TC your gonna need a tranny cooler which is only $60. Like I said before man, it depends on how you see your car in a couple of years.

Vigilante or Yank is the way to go if you have the money.
I bought a TCI and have been very happy with it.
Midwest also makes a good converter that won,t put you in the poorhouse.

...What do you guys think about a 3000 high stall B&M Superholeshot Converter? Are those pretty good converters? I think the B&M's are decent, but opinions will vary depending on who you ask. Only 4th Gen, TC experience I've had is with PI. The 2800 PI will Flash in the 2800-3200 area.

B&M make good products but I have heard some negatives about the converters they build, just guys having probs with em. I had heard good things about TCI so that is what I went with and so far its been real good.

To answer your question about the 3000rpm converter. I have a PI 3000rpm and absolutely love it. After about 2 days I never even noticed a difference from stock. You will be fine with that.
