Polish, then a day later, Wax?

Can I do that? I dont think ill have enough time on either of the two days im off this weekend to do both of them at the same time. So im thinking that maybe I could wash the car, polish it, then the next day when i have more time, wash it again, then wax it. Or will washing it again, get rid of all the polish I put on the day before? Im going to need me car friday night, but I want to work on it during the day. Reason I want to do this is cuz there is a cool car show this sunday for our town, and I want my car lookin good. And I dont have more than a couple hours of time either friday or saturday to do anything. What can I do? Ill be using Meguiars #7 polish, and then NXT. Thanks for any help guys.

You can do that...

You don't "put on" polish, you work it into the paint and remove it. If you wash the car the next day with only #7 on it, kiss #7 goodbye. Why not just do it all at once? It shouldn't take longer than an hour.
