What is a cold start problem...? Maybe thats my prob...

Some Facts:
Battery is OK...Took it to autozone to get tested
Alternator is ok too...its not even 3 months old (Bosch New)

I start my car up fine go somewhere and then lets say I go back in the car within 15 min to start it wont start at all. Yesterday I was at my friends house and after about 30 min went to start my car nada. Then waited 10 min and it cranked over. we then went to autozone to get something and 12 min later went back outside and bang car wouldnt start again. This time we had to wait about 20 min outside.

Is this what I called a cold start problem?

I noticed the other day when I was switching the fan switch in the rear of the block of the engine that my starter the outer shell had a crack. I thought that was odd considering that is solid metal. Could my started be on death roll? If so then why does it start when its been off for awhile...maybe a heat problem?

Any thoughts? :confused:

nope,its a warm start problem.

could be the starter,hard to tell. you could put 1 on it and if it doesnt take care of the problem take it back (if you work on your car yourself). but a crack in the starter housing isnt a good thing.

Ya I was thinking of that just going and buying and dropping it but its expensive and also when i was under the car it looks like a pain in the tail to drop in.

Anyone know if there are any complications in changing in a new starter...?

Is there anyway to get the starter tested maybe to avoid the labor if thats not the prob...?

your starter is getting heat soaked, and therefore will not start....over a period of time, you starter will eventually puke on ya, usually a simply heatshield will fix the problem...this is a common problem with adding headers, but exhaust manifolds will cause this problem too...heatshields are inexpensive and can often be made by yourself..but a new start prolly wouldn't hurt either

If it won't turn over, it is a heat soak problem. I had shorty headers and had no such problems. I had 10:8:1 compression too. However, I was using a GMPP high torque starter. No heat shield, no header wrap. Sounds like your starter is going south which makes it more subsceptable to heat.

Ya it def sounds like the starter is getting too hot. I was talking to a mechanic and he said it was that or something in the fuel pump. Guess I will have to spring for a new starter.
