hilarious track times ('03 Cobra)

Saw some pretty funny times at the track last night. Z06=12.9's numerous GT's=15's saw an '02 SS with exhaust 4.10's and DR's run 13.6's. And the best of all '03 Cobra ran a 15.3!!!! I don't think he ever got into the 13's either. I ran a 13.9 which i dind't think was too bad.

Oh i've been seeing all of these "altitude corrected" times, this was at 1100ft. would that make any difference?? couldn't be much

Yes, altitude makes a difference, but what you REALLY need to know is Density Altitude (DA). What you need for a DA calculation is:

1a) basic elevation and barometric pressure
OR
1b) station pressure

2) air temperature

3) dew point

http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_hp_dp.htm

The bottom line is that the most important factor is air temperature, then barometric pressure, then humidity. The reason air temperature is so important is that it's so variable. Some guys race in 50 degree weather at night, others (like me) have to race during the middle of the day in 85 degree weather. As a for instance, using the same altitude, same barometric pressure, dew point 20 degrees less than air temperature and the Density Altitude is:

50 degrees: -610'
80 degrees: +1491'

According to the NHRA correction table you would run a 13.74 at sea level.
