Ryan's LT1 08-05-2004, 03:31 AM Well, lets just say the old Ford Analogy, F*cked On Race Day came into play here. After driving 2 hours to the track today (for the first time for the both of us) and arriving there, letting our cars cool down, and going to the strip... Well here's the times for round 1:
'94 Z28 - 3558 Ilbs.
14.2 @ 93 x.xx 60ft (over 3 seconds... shut up)
.996 RT
'91 LX 5.0 - 3124 Ibs
17.1 @ 81, granny shifting into 2nd because he couldn't drive it.
After this race, the following happened. He BS's alot, and in this order:
His starter went out.
His flywheel chipped and hurt something.
He developed a really bad miss.
His clutch went out, probably due to something with the flywheel?
Needless to say, he only got a couple runs in, where as I got 9 runs in, and proceeded to get a best of 13.689 @ 104.89MPH with a 2.232 60 and a .62 RT. I would say thats pretty damn good for it being my first time ever at the track. All the times are alltitude corrected.
So, the Camaro comes out on top in this one folks. I raced and saw so many badass cars that it's going to take another thread to explain. Look for it in the F-Body Lounge.
Garbage 08-05-2004, 03:43 AM Damn those are some nice times, Good runs. Your friend needs to learn how to drive and his car needs a tune up however.
TankII 08-05-2004, 10:38 AM Geez! The '81 2.3L 5-speed 'Stang I had did 17.0@80 all day long! And that was before I dropped a '79 Turbo into the car!
If I was there and still had that car (pre-turbo), he would have REALLY been embarrased!
Your friend needs some help there. Be a good citizen so you aren't ashamed to hang with him.
:-)

I guarantee you will catch all types of shi* for altitude correcting your times on this board. :( But those of us at altitude know what it does to the hp of a car. How did you pull a 14.2 at 93 with a 3 second 60' time? Let off right before the finish line? Good kills!
WS Sick 08-05-2004, 11:16 AM Help your freind out a little and give him crap at the same time, A few of my buds run the blue ovals, some can beat me some can't, but we help each other and BS at the same time, when they run an awesome time or pull away from me like a mother I congratulate them then give them crap for the glorified escort they drive :D . (in which he responds about my tupperware bowl styling)
Ryan's LT1 08-05-2004, 06:01 PM Thanks! The 14.2 @ 93 was not with a 3.0 flat 60 foot, the little counter thing stops counting at 3 seconds so if it goes over that then you don't even get a 60ft time. For all I know it could have been 4 seconds. I did spin ALOT on that run.
My friend made a total of 7 passes, 5 of which he missed 2nd. Th 6th one he granny shifted it into 2nd to make sure he hit that gear, same with his 7th pass. On the 7th he got his best, so that's what I used. His Best to my Worst.
And I definately plan on helping him out with his clutch and everything, before anything we are friends. I did say I would wait a couple days before I give him crap about his car breaking- on race day. Needless to say, I raced a couple 5.0's that were more powerful than his car, like the one with the cam, that had better drivers and I beat them, though not by much. I don't think he can give me too much trouble.
One of the guys I forgot to mention was a kid named Blake who went with us in his '71 Nova with a built 350. It ran 14.0's all day long, and me and him raced and it was close up to the 1/8th and then I just pulled away by a couple cars to take the W. It was fun. But he is a DIEHARD chevy guy, so when Pat's car stopped working, the first thing he said was, "Shoulda bought a Chevy." I laughed very hard and said "Hahaha, I'm not going to agree with him right now, but give it a couple days and I would have to say He's right."
Pat wasn't too happy about that.
scott9050 08-05-2004, 07:33 PM Steve is right about the altitude correction part, you don't want to do it. Mine corrected came out to a 13.01 at 107.5 but I put what I actually ran in the sig.
