Alright i wanted to make sure i did it right. I washed the car and left it wet and used wiped the car with the clay bar and when it started to dry up i used instant detailer instead of water. Well i did it then waxed my car after and it def. looks a lot better than it did instead of just waxing it. I was just wondering if i did it right or not.

Sounds to me like you did it right :)
I clay my car every 6 months. I wash it first, rinse, then clay. As I clay, I have a spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of car wash/water, and spray the area I'm claying, turning the bar frequently. I use Zaino's clay bar which turns yellow as it gets dirty. When I see it turning black, I fold the clay to a clean spot.
When I'm finished claying, I wash the car again. After drying, I apply the polish.

Yeah my buddy did his truck and i was like omigod it looks awesome. I've always heard people talk about it but i was like it can't make that much of a difference. Now that i look at it in the daylight (i did it at night in the 24 hr car wash) it made one hell of a difference. I think i'm going to take your advice with the 50/50 mix. Thanx for the input.

Yes, use some lube with the clay. I also use the car wash soap and water mixture.

I didn't notice much, if any, of a difference after claying my car. If just didn't catch anything like people always say. Then again, I don't think my paint was that bad. I had taken NXT to it quite a bit before I tried to clay it. Maybe the paint got cleaned off really well? Who knows. At least I can say I tried it...

You did wash it again before you waxed, right?
RS Dragster: the best place to notice the clay difference is the top of the back bumper. Feel it for roughness, (a trick is to put your hand in a sandwich bag and drag across), then take the clay bar to it and notice the difference.

If you leave the clay lube on the car, you need to wash again. I just buff it off.
