Has anyone ever experianced a horsepower lost after they used the Hypertech programmer on their LS1 engine? A few Tech mention to me that they Dyno a few customers vehicles after they use the hypertech programmer they lost power. How true is this?

I was thinking about getting a HTPP III and 160deg Stat! :usa:

I *think* I feel a little extra power "kick" with my HPP3 program installed, and the throttle response seems a little "crisper" (due to advancing the timing I think) but it forces me to use the highest octane gas available (Sunoco 94) to prevent any pinging, so I wonder if it advances the timing too much??

I've heard where on a dyno the HPP has gained power, and where it has lost power. I think they're more worth it if you're doing gear/tire changes, and need to compensate, or for the A4's to adjust shift points:cool:.

Taken from Hypertech's FAQ's:

"Hypertech Power Tuning is calibrated for stock or near-stock engines (engines equipped with high-flow air filters and cat-back exhaust systems). Any additional modifications that alter the engine's airflow and volumetric efficiency, such as installing a modified mass airflow sensor, high-lift or long-duration camshaft, ported heads, headers, supercharger, nitrous oxide, etc., would require new tuning. This tuning must be done individually on a dynamometer with a vehicle equipped with those parts. If you have modified your engine with aftermarket equipment other than a low-restriction air filter or cat-back exhaust, the Power Tuning developed for a stock engine may not be correct."

Well I guess I will wait until I get the rest of my parts and get a dyno tune rather than buy the HTPP.
