Say if you are driving down the road with a cutout and you have it open while going down the road. You get pulled over by a cop for a noise violation, but as you are being pulled over you close the cutout. Does this mean you can get of the ticket?

I think it'd depend on how smart the cop is :D I'm sure some of them out there know what an electric cutout is.

If your Parish/Town has an ordinance on it, and you did break the ordinance; a citation would be issued... And if the cop is wise, and see that there is a cutout, he could write another for modifying your exhaust by bypassing the muffler...

Your question is kinda like being caught speeding, and if you get the car under the speed limit by the time the cops gets to you, were you breaking a law?
The answer is yes....

Use an E-cutout valve. I never once got bother by cops, and I had LTs, off road Y-Pipe, 3" Cat Back and a cutout open darn near 24/7...
Only time it was closed was when the wife was with me, or the cops were near;)

On a side note:

I can't see why a cutout is that bad... I have been next to Harleys that made WAAAY more noise than my car with a cutout and they don't get hassled...

I do not think you would get out of it, but you would probably be fine as long as you are careful when you get on it.

Use an E-cutout valve.

How is that different from a Y cutout? I have never heard of an E cutout before.

E-cutout = Electric-cutout

That is the kind of cutout I was talking about having.

If the cop had his lights on when he pulled you over and you did not have the cutout open then you can get out of it. By law if the lights are turned on on a patrol car the in car camera and audio are automatically turned on. Get a lawyer and have the tape subpeenud(what a good speller I am). You can then sue them for legal fees and lost wages. This happened to my buddy and my lawyer told me to tell him this and he won. But on the other hand, the law is very crooked and if the fine is not too much just go ahead and pay it. Much less headache and it does not go on your record.

Actually, I've never been bothered by the cops, nor my cousin, and we both unbolt our exhaust pipes at the cats all the time. I just put mine back on after running it like that for.. 2 months?
