Raced at the track with the new T/C

Even though it was hot as hell out today I needed to get to the track. I've had the car back together for about two weeks now but was on vacation with the little guy and was fishing / camping / tubing etc....

First pass left at idle and nailed it and ran 10.595 @ 129.08 (1.556 60 ft).

Next pass, left at 1500 and cut a 1.504 60 ft, ran 6.610 @ 104.94 in the 1/8th and ended up with a 10.339 @ 131.57

Next pass I raced a buddy of mine in his 78 Z/28 (he's dyno'd 550 at the wheels with a Paxton ~12/13#'s of boost and a 150 shot

Was going to launch at 2K this time but after we decided to race I figured I'd go with a known commodity for my launch as this was only my 10th pass on the car with this motor and third with the new torque converter anyway....

cut a 1.517 60 ft to his 1.777
6.617 @ 105.32 in the 1/8th to his 7.026 @ 103.02
Ran my new best of 10.310 @ 135.73 to his 10.733 @ 128.02

I then asked a friend of mine to take a video for me and had to ask some dude if I could cut in front of him so I could get the right lane for a better video and as we got closer it looked like I was gonna race some newer Mustang and I was like cool, good video slapping a Mustang around will be sweet, then as I get closer Rick moves some cars around as someone had a pre set up race and I end up againt some early 70's Mopar, w/ full cage, slicks, fiberglass everywhere (no headlights, just lookalike headlights molded into the nose) and I thought now this sucks gonna get my ass haned to me on my best video......

Well campers not today

.611 r/t to his 1.098
1.559 60 ft to his 1.566
10.390 @ 132.22 to his 10.422 @ 129.84

I'll see if I can get the video up shortly.

Gotta thank Lonnie Pavtis ( www.lonniesperformance.com )for helping me select the right stall on my new torque converter as well as all his effort and support in getting the car to run this good........as Lonnie says "who says a CC305 can't make good power" ;)

Also all the above runs were in the high 80s for temp and I was running FLP longtubes with their dual cats and was only in the 630 HP trim the the third and fourth runs of the day.

Looing forward to taking the cats off and getting some colder weather and laying the smackdown in 654 HP trim (not sure how much taking the cats off will get me but I'll be sure to post as I'll be going back to New England Dyno and Tuning to find out ;)

Nice times. If you leave harder out of the hole, 9's should be no problem. :D Congrat!!!!

Thanks guys,

Here's the video, it's on a Geo$hitties site so it may have bandwidth limits.

My usual video hosting friend is on vacation and can't host it till next week

If someone wants to snag it and post it up that would be cool.

I'm working on the launch and we'll see what happens ;)

Right click save as worked fine. Nice pass! When you leave, are you just decking it and flashing the convertor?

Cool ;)

The first pass I left at idle and nailed it, the second and third pass I left at 1500 and nailed it, the last pass I left at 1800 and nailed it.

Cool thanks, thats the same pulley combo I have and I was just trying to get a guestimate on the amount of boost itll be making.

If you have not done so I would highly recommend a SD concepts spring loaded tensioner. :)

Hi, it's about a 36-3800 stall.

Much better than the one I previously had (was 2800 stall on my 405 motor but acted like a 46-4800 stall on the new motor).

Much more driveable and still stays in the powerband after it shifts and doesn't slip all the way down the track like it did before this converter.

OK...
How much did you gain/lose widh the new one?
My Vig (ordered a 2800 for my setup) stalls way to high, never drops under 5100 on the strip   but its not so bad in ordinary driving....
Planing to restall it or sell it to someone widh a N/A setup, but that will be coming winters project....

Hi, that's nothing my conveter never dropped below 6K before the new one and used to only drop about 400 rpm between shifts.

My previous best was 10.58 @ 127.95, granted I did spice up the tune a bit as compared to my 135.73 mph run but alot of it was getting the converter fixed.

I used to pull 6500 through the lights and it was only running 128, now it's about 58-6000 through the lights.

My sixty foot times haven't suffered, I did run a best of 1.49 on the old converter but managed to cut a 1.504 on the new one so it's still lauling the mail out of the hole ;)

How old is the converter? If it's under 2 years old they will adjust the stall for free, if not then it's $225 plus shipping.

my converter is 8 months old so the only cost would be the shipping from sweden (northen europe) to USA and back, guess 2-300$..... but i not sure if i will gain anything on restalling it now, Im planing to test a 75 shot of nitrous later on so what do you think??? What rpm do you se on the strip? under 5000?

My Z doesn't see under 5K except for the launch.

Figure out what you want to run and then adjust the converter accordingly, the more power you give it the later it will stall.

I've been mulling over ramming a 50 shot down the throat my my Z :D

Check the shipping prices before you decide as you've got a potentially expensive two way trip.

I think they weight about 40 lbs.

Precision Industries has website www.converter.com, perhaps you can give them a call. I think it cost me about $35 to send my converter from NH to Tennessee.
