I have a 9 bolt 2.77 posi rear, but I just bought a 3 series posi and now I need to decide on what gears to get. I was looking at 9bolt.com and it seems that in October he is going to get some used 3.7x gears in stock.

I was planning on doing a HSR/AFR 195 heads/Cam (undecided on which cam right now). What gears do you guys think I need to get? 3.27, 3.45, or wait for the 3.7x's?

I figured that I would probably be better off building my 9 bolt up instead of getting a 10 bolt that will just break down the line when I start making some serious power and add traction.

Should I get the posi rebuilt before getting it installed? The posi rebuild kit is $135 from 9bolt.com .

IF you have an OD tranny, i would go 3.7X gears. They are fun!

Forget the 3:73 ratio and go with the 3:45 for the best results on the street.

How do figure that? For the street you want really deep gears to get moving fast, or atleast i do. Also this isn't TPI, it's a HSR, so it won't run out of power at 4500rpm.

Get some 3.73's for half price from Jason in the link above.

I have had both and like the 3.45 a little better. Highway cursing is more "friendly" and hooking is a little easier. At the track it ET very close to the 3.70 but at a slighty less trap speed. Either one is good.

I agree, 3.4x or 3.2x is what you want if you plan on much highway driving.

I found a good deal on some 3.70's (thanks onefastgta ). I really kinda wanted some 3.45's but I can't seem to find them anywhere so I got the new 3.70's.

I figure I will have problems hooking up in 1st but DR's should solve that problem . I'm glad I have a beater car for a daily driver too because I figure Highway driving in the Z will probably suck with 3.70's. The Stealthram should help alittle on the highway shouldn't it?
