Wheels shaking uncontrollably??

I have a 91 RS with 17" C5 wheels. I lowered it about a year ago. The tires wore out(camber) so I adjusted the camber accordingly. They ran fine before and after the camber adjustment until one day I noticed a small wobble slowing down. It got worse quick to the point where it was scary. I was able to make it home but I noticed that if I hit the gas, it would go away.

I thought it was the tires so I put brand new ones on and it still has the wobble. Not as bad but there should be none at all. The steering wheel just shakes back and forth and the whole car sounds like it is about to fall apart. I checked everything. I grabbed the wheels and could not find any looseness. All the tie rods seem fine. A different steering box didn't change things. What else could I check?

Are you sure the rotors are not warped?

If it only does it during braking...warped rotors are the most likely culprit.

Trust me it isn't rotors. This is dangerous. You cannot control it. Sometimes it would be fine if you were aggressive with stopping. I am going to recheck tomorrow.

Broken cord in your tire? Are the inside of the tires worn bald?

Yeah, the old ones where showing cord on the inside. But it is doing it with the brand new tires too. Just not as bad yet.

You've got a suspension component out that's causing any tire you throw on there to become uneven until it gets violent. Trust me, I'm going through the same thing with my daily driver.

Things I've discovered so far...Bad upper ball-joint on the driver's side (weird since it's always been the front passenger side to get shredded), two loose nuts holding the driver's side control arm.

I sure hope that ball joints aren't nearly the pain to replace in 3rd-gens as it's been in my '85 Buick LeSabre. Talk about a nightmare.

Both ball joints have been recently replaced but that doesn't rule them out. I will check. I didn't get to it today. There are pretty simple actually.

Update! It turns out, only one bolt was holding the kmember in on the pass. side. The others must have vibrated out. Put some in and it has been running good since.
